I agree with Lisa... the music/live entertainments stop at 10pm, so what noise are people complaining about? I've been to the Tiki quite a few times. At first, I'll agree, there was lots of noise and I can see how that may have been a disturbance to neighbors. However, I went to the Tiki after the complaints and they stopped having live entertainment at 10...I couldn't hear a single thing from the parking lot. You wouldn't have even known the place was open if it weren't for the cars in the parking lot... so I'm confused as to what noise people are complaining about...If I can't hear noise from the parking lot, I find it hard to believe you can hear noises so loud they keep you awake from across the street...
I agree. At first the Tikki Bar was a public nuisance way too load on weekdays and at way to late a time. But now they have complied with all requirements and the place is much more orderly. I don't see what the problem is anymore other then one disgruntled neighbor. It does indeed seem like things have gotten personal and it isn't about noise anymore. The Selectmen should pay attention to that.

Support a local business that is complying with what was asked of them, or support a disgruntled neighbor who is moving out of the area anyways... hmmm, not so tough a choice.

These idiots are the cause of all of their own problems. They began complaining prior to the bar even setting an opening date. They are angry that the press is making it difficult to sell. If you perform a search of their home on the internet, their listing is first and all of the negative press surrounding the bar follows (because of the street name in the search). They need to realize that their complaints are the cause of the negative press and therefore the cause of their difficulties. You made it Monroe's, you sleep in it.

Of course you would support it. As long as its not in your backyard.

So not one complaint over Labor Day weekend? Thanks for telling the neighbors what they need to do to shut the business down whether or not it is in compliance.

Complaints aren't the reason to punish a business owner. Violating rules and agreements are. What specifically are the rules surrounding this type of establishment and are they in compliance or not? If no, correct them. If yes, tell the neighbors to go pound sand.

Obviously the ski area has been there - but the Tiki Bar has not. Before you offer comments, why don't you investigate the facts, don't comment if you don't know what you're talking about. The Tiki Bar was just added this summer. Living across from a family ski resort is completely different from living across from a late night bar.
The Tiki Bar needs to go.

The Tiki Bar may not have been there when they bought their house, but the Outlook Restauraunt was, which, itself, creates a lot of traffic , noise, etc.

Was there for the first time last week on Thursday night, the night of the alleged complaint. It was so laid back, not the rowdy place we've been led to believe. Security everywhere, no loud noise, I honestly don't know what the issue is. If there were issues before, they appear to have been thoroughly addressed.

Plus the information in the past regarding the zoning of the area and all appears to be in order here. I don't know why the selectmen flipped out as it appears there was no perception on the part of Nashoba that there was something still out of the ordinary. One person calling about noise at 6:30 or something of ths sort? This seems like it's getting to the level of harrassment on the part of this abutter and pretty soon it will be the "boy who cried wolf." I hate how town boards like the Westford selectmen always jump for one unrealistic complainer...there may have been valid complaints before but it appears everything has been addressed. Now it seems like its complaining just for the sake of complaining, an ax to grind or something.

And lol about the snow guns and the swoosh of the skis, how that will bother them. Can't wait until Witches Woods and they start complaining about that next too.

These people just can't handle the fact that their complaints were dealt with in a timely and professional manner. So what better to do than continue dragging it out. Do you think they will still be complaining after their home sells? Maybe they should go live in Montana where they can be surrounded by fields for miles around. But let me guess the cows will be too loud?

The Tiki Bar not only provides many jobs it is also a great place to hangout. I hope that the bar continues to flourish for many summers to come and that the board of selectman realize who they are really dealing with.(Clearly an attention deprived couple in need of a hobby!)

its not a strip mall (like the strip mall on already on powers road), and it's not a bunch of box stores. It's a family-owned small local business. It won't ruin the town. It looks like there are about 15 employees, based on what I saw. Thats 15 new jobs. This person is right though, we should all be going to the Selectmans' meetings, but we should go to support this business. I am personally upset that they no longer have dj's and have to stop the music at 10. Leave it to one bad seed (Monroe) to ruin something great for the rest of us. His last noise complaint was at 6pm on a Saturday. Obviously he has taken this personally, and his emotions are getting the better of him. 6pm is not late enough for a complaint. Let's not let an extreme minority take this awesome venue away from the rest of us. See you at the next meeting, I'll be there in favor of keeping the bar open.(by the way, it's not the first year of the tiki bar. I went there last summer for LobsterFest with music. Its only become an issue now because the bar has become successful and has many cars leaving late at night. Should we penalize them for being successful?)
Thanks Soccer Mom. Please do go to the next meeting and get the other soccer moms to join you. You have the right idea. The tiki bar is a great summer job for local kids and area residents. It does fit the business plan of a ski resort trying to be successful and it should be welcomed by the community.

MILFs - This welcome addition to the above mentioned establishment has been welcomed by those of us who appreciate women who qualify. Perhaps there's more than to be had than the 'naked eye' perceives at first glance. Sit back back, relax, enjoy the scenery no matter your location. Westford happens to be the MILF-dom at hand. "The Munroes said that the added police presence has helped a bit with stifling noise from rowdy patrons exiting the bar around the 1 a.m. closing time, however, they said there is no way to limit revving engines and motorcycles. They have put their house up for sale and say everyone who comes to view the property comments on the ski area."

I have no sympathy for these people. They bought a house across the street from a ski resort on a very busy road.

If they reduce their asking price perhaps it would be worth it for someone. My guess is no family will want to move into a house on such a busy road. Stop blaming the noise.

What a load of bull. So did the ski area just appear one night and the residents never knew it was there when they bought their house?
I generally take that position on these matters, but in this case you have your facts wrong. Running an outdoor bar in the summer at the ski area is a recent development. And the way demographics have changed in Westford over the last decade or two it's going to be a very short lived development.

So another bar bites the dust. I'm getting all misty.

People who live in the Nashoba area of Westford should REALLY stop complaining! They have NO right on how to tell a PRIVATE business how to run their business. Besides the fact they chose to live near a Major Ski resort. So I guess the massive light towers, snow machines, snowmobiles and ski lifts don't keep anyone awake after 8pm? Move away and let Nashoba run its business...and 'there better not be one complaint' about this comment, WTF? Or else what?

And BTW, there was a Blues and Brews festival (annual) at Nashoba 3 weeks ago...as well as multiple events at Nashoba throughout the year (camps, weddings, volleyball, concerts). And I wish I could ONLY work 9 hours a day too...try 14-16, tyvm
