Town closes 'illegal' home on Island Pond Road

The long driveway at 65 Island Pond Road has a lockable gate and four "No Trespassing" signs, including one that advises "Violators will be prosecuted." The house itself can't be seen from the roadside, and local officials are now saying the homeowner, Michael McCarthy, used that secluded locale to illegally add a second dwelling to the parcel.

so builders and businesses have to get permits but this guy is above the law, and does he still pay taxes on the value of the old cottage???
