DENVER, CO—When the Erickson Living Values Team and the Human Resources Department of Wind Crest retirement community put out an “S.O.S.” call for clothing donations, residents and staff responded in overwhelming fashion.

The call was to support Dress for Success, a national program aimed at promoting the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

In a two-day collection drive that occurred on February 24th and 25th, Wind Crest residents and staff donated 154 clothing items, including jackets, skirts, pants, blouses, dresses, sweaters, shoes, jewelry and purses.

The donated items will make their way to Dress for Success via dressbarn’s 9th Annual S.O.S. weekend (February 24th-27th). The specialty retailer of women’s career and casual fashions holds its Send One Suit campaign by serving as national title sponsor and drop-off site for donations. To date, dressbarn, with over 835 stores around the U.S., has collected more than 315,000 suits and separates from customers and associates and also has distributed 55,000 brand new items with a retail value of $7 million to its affiliates for Dress for Success.

Tiffany Milbourne, Human Resources Manager at Wind Crest, described the value of the program affiliation:“It was gratifying to be part of the annual S.O.S. weekend coordinated by dressbarn to support Dress for Success. In just two days, the residents and staff of Wind Crest demonstrated their generosity to bolster a great cause. During a time when job creation is a national priority, the mission of Dress for Success is more important than ever.”
