Too bad someone died, but I'll put my money on the fact that the victim was crossing in the middle of the street. I often see people, at night, in dark clothes crossing anywhere the darn well please.

Thank God! It wasn't another hit and run. Sad story but atleast the driver is taking responsibility for the accident.

These stories usually imply that the pedestrians were crossing safely and then people automatically think the driver of the car was at fault.

But the driver's NOT responsible. You have to look both ways when crossing a street, just like your parents taught you when you were about 6 yrs. old?

I get sick and tired of pedestrians taking the right of way jaywalking, or even at a light or intersection ... too many of them are taking the street away from good drivers ... that applies to rude drivers as well as jaywalkers! Those of us who are law abiding drivers suffer at the hands of those who are not!

it's very sad that someone was killed and someone was seriously injured. The driver will have to live with that, right or wrong. It's a bad stretch of road. Very bad lighting. If you were to be traveling through the intersection with a green light, if someone happened to be crossing against the light, it's difficult to see, even in daylight because of the way the road curves in that stretch. It's just before the Broadway overpass, and really hard to see at night under the best of circumstances. I'm willing to bet that the pedestrians, crossing south to north, probably misjudged the distance between themselves and approaching traffic. Sounds as though it was a terrible accident in the truest sense of the word
