While I have nothing but sympathy for the parents, I feel they are focusing too much on the store clerk. Yes, he did the wrong thing. But their sons did use a fake ID, and drove under the influence. I feel for the brother who had the ID. He will never get over the guilt of giving it to his brother.
Again, I think the store clerk did the wrong thing, but he did not kill those young men; the young men killed themselves. If that store clerk had refused them, as he should have, they would have found someone else.
Just my thoughts

This is sad that the two young men are dead. They would have been legal in a short time, shouldn"t they be held accountable too, for the action that lead up to this. No one wins with liquor and moving cars. Sad very very SAD!

I'm sorry that the boys "made bad choices" but they used FAKE!!!! IDs. The store clerk also made a misstake but I think it still comes back to the fact that there were FAKE IDs

Your anger and sense of needing someone to blame is misguided by taking it out on the clerk. Your sons made a mistake and so did he. If he hadn't sold them the booze, they would have gotten it somewhere else.
As a parent of a 22 and a 19 year old, I am sad for you and your loss.

If they were brothers of the fake ID owner and nearly old enough it may have been an honest mistake. No matter, the boys lied and drank and drove all while being underage. Enough punishment has been handed out. A very tragic situation. I will tell my children again tomorrow morning about the dangers of drinking and driving. My sympathies.

What? Because their kids were stupid they want the clerk to face stiff punishment? Has the world gone upside down? What about better parenting? Take some responsibility, people!

I fail to see how the clerk is responsible. The Dead man misrepresented the truth by using someone else's ID, broke the law again by illegally consuming alcohol and again by driving under the influence. I am sorry for the family's loss, but the fault lies not with the store clerk, but with the one who broke the law, not once, not twice but three times...and the family wants to blame the store clerk?

Where is acceptance of responsibility?

Typical of our society to find someone to blame - those boys knew what they were doing and would have found it somewhere. Stop blaming someone else. You are ultimately responsible for your actions.

The first story did not indicate this information. I wish that they would create a different title for every update. The first story made it sound like the clerk knew them and hooked them up. I understand your point. Thanks for the update.

What an unfortunate accident. My sympathy goes out to all the families involved. The bottom line still remains that the boys illegally bought alcohol with fake ID's, illegally drank the alcohol, and drove while intoxicated. They are responsible for their deaths. These laws are something that they should have learned from their parents a long time ago.

People have to stop pointing fingers at everyone else and start accepting some responsibility for their actions.

Are you kidding me? These parents need to realize that while some responsibility falls on the liquor store employee even more falls directly on them. Most of the responsibility lies with their sons, who should have known better.

"There were a series of mistakes made that night, but it started when the store clerk sold alcohol to a minor," said Frank Ondrish, Paul's father.

--Umm, no you idiot. It all started with your son walking into the liquor store to knowingly buy liqour under age and it finished with him deciding to drive drunk.

Come on 9News, don't insult everyone's intelligence!

If any positive should come out of this tragedy, there should be stiffer laws for fake id's. It is not the clerk's responsibility to determine whether or not an ID is fake. Unfortunately, the outcome is a natural consequences for the boys' actions. My sympathy goes out to the parents of these boys.

I dont understand why the blame for the store clerk. He obviously did his job by checking for ID. The boy did use his brothers ID which had lot of likeliness because they are BROTHERS. Blame = boys and maybe the parents. Store Clerk = did his job not at fault. Am I the only one who gets this. Come ON!!!!!!!

People always want someone else to blame. While the clerk has MINOR responsibility, he does not deserve the full blame that he is getting.

The two teens broke the law by using FAKE IDs , drank alcohol illegally, and operated a car illegally while being drunk.

Do not punish the clerk where 95% of the blame is on the teens themselves.

So, we can't blame the parents for telling their sons, "It's not right to use FAKE Id's! Don't drink and drive! Don't try to buy liquor while underage!" These parents need to take a step back and understand they failed as well. If it wasn't this clerk, it would have been another with another FAKE ID. I don't think these kids got it. Parents, time for a gut check. I'm sorry for your loss, of course.

The parents should not be looking to blame other people. How about blaming themselves for not raising better children. Who taught them that underage drinking was Ok, and who did not teach them not to break the law. Ignorance does not make it ok to break the law, both leagaly and moraly. Put the responsibility where it belongs, with the kids and the parents. Stop blaming others for what you should do!
