Royal Farms told 'step up or step out'

Full story: Evening Sun

One year after giving Royal Farms a final conditional approval to build a store in Littlestown, the Borough Council said last week that it is time for the company to "step up or step out." The council wants to hear personally from Royal Farms, and directed borough solicitor John White to request that a company representative attend the council's ...

Hey Westcott, why don't you look at the rental properties in town. They could use some of your big mouth advise. This town (Littlestown) is the worse in the county. So glad I got out when I did.

so, the politicians can take 5 years, but the business they screwed over only has 1. I imagine there are other businesses going thru the 5 year process just waiting in line to build on that lot. Too bad Farm Stores won't line your pockets to speed things up, but maybe that's the real issue.

get moving or get out... really? Littlestown is just booming with new business (end sarcasm) Can the council and or the residents really afford to play hard ball? It's a nice message to send to other businesses looking to move to Littlestown, no wonder the residents are flying the coop as well as other businesses. Way to go town council!!

If I remember the way things to this point, it's because town council threw a stick into the spokes and wanted to play big bad I'm in charge. If council would have just found a way to work with Royal Farms I think the store could be much farther along. But just I see council is being the Big Bad I'm in charge, play or get out of town. Council needs to be more savvy on how to attract and keep business in town. I am sure this is not the way..... And besides I am sure there is a line of businesses waiting to develop that piece of property.

So they kick RF out then who is going to take care of the property then, oh yeah thats right your tax dollars will be paying to maintain it....

I am glad Hanover didn't run RF's out. The new RF store in Hanover is a very nice place and a vast improvement to the downtown area. I know Littlestown is to prideful to work with anyone, they'll run anyone off.

Fix the water problems YOU created before you worry about Royal Farms.

The boro council needs to take a chill pill and relax! Your anti business freindly atmosphere is showing. Maybe Royal Farms is going thru what everybody else is going thru with this economy, have a little bit of patience, after all your budget had to reflect the economy you all should understand if this is the case. Be glad they are coming to littlestown it will be a good tax base.

Littlestown is so tough. The problem is the Littonian way of life. They think they are better than anyone else and that's that. The Little town with Little brains. Royal Farms should tell them to shove it!!

With that attitude, who would want to build? Guess it's all about "control", well sadly it just might back fire this time resulting in no revenue being pulled in by Royal Farms. I sure would tell them where to go! Shame on you Council members trying to be the big bad wolf!

The truth will come out eventually.

The old-timers in L'town say that the RF site sits directly on top of a mass grave for Confederate soldiers who died of wounds in L'Town in July 1863. Wounded and dead Union troops were put on trains headed north from L'town; the Confederate boys who died of their wounds before they could be sent south were quickly buried.

While there was a house for years on top of the hill at the RF site, the area further back where they were excavating for the new store a couple of years ago had never been developed. When they hit bones, they stopped and the saga began. No one wants to touch this property with a 10 foot pole now.

Someone should "dig" into this to see if it's true.

People need to look into the allegations that Sheetz is quietly enriching the lives of certain individuals in payment for ensuring that Royal farms does NOT locate in Littlestown...

PLEASE! Westcott and Wheeler are not your typical Littlestown resident. They are destroying the town one dumb decision at a time. No hiring a boro manager was mistake #1. They are on a power trip, pure and simple.

Royal Farms should tell them to go blow a goat. Nothing finer than popping the neighborhood bully in the mouth and stealing his snacks.
