That woman and her freak husband should have been fixed about 16 children ago and quit overpopulating the world with more religious freaks.

How very sad for the children. They have never and will never know what real family life is. These are very selfish parents. That sounds like a contradiction, but think about it. I saw the tv show. It is like looking at a military action: every one dress the same, all the names the same, they are brain washing the children, no interaction with people out side their family and religion. Are they afraid if the as the kids get older and are able to see what a life should be they will run for the hills to get out of this freak show.

I think God also expects us to use the brain He gave us and eighteen children is beyond good sense.
This dude would sure have to pay a shytload of child support if she wised up |

There were 11 of us and we never went without someone to play with, we never joined a gang because we had all the back up we needed and even today I know that no matter what at least one person in this world will always be available to talk to.
The down side I was the youngest and I had 10 people who to this day tell me what I want, would dress me if they could and I have to do something drastic to get their attention so they know what I want. We didn't and still don't long for our parents affection, we had it. We were all their special babies and treated equally. Chores went faster and were more fun because we had someone to do it with and while you had to be quick to get to the last biscuit, God provided every means for us. Judge not lest ye be judge. This life isn't right for you and me but it is hardly a freak show, the only thing damaging to these children is that someone would be so calloused as to call them or their parents a freak show. |

If I had raised a dozen kids, that would be 12 kids who would ignore me on Mother's Day. Mother's Day is the saddest day of the year for moms who don't get a call or a visit. Every year I feel like sitting in a public park on Mother's Day to see what the rest of the town's people are doing.

How sad for you. Why don't you call your kids and invite them all over for a bar-b-que? Sometimes us moms have to make the effort. Happy Mothers Day! |

Yes, that's what I usually do... invite them over. And the same on my birthday. They always act surprised like the date just got invented and they had never heard of that holiday or occasion and OH MY GOSH, they even have a hard time deciding what to do for their OWN special days. I usually invite them for dinner on THEIR birthdays, too. On Mother's Day I reflect on how thankful I am that none of my kids are: in prison running a brothel drug addicts out on bail on the board of supervisors lol Yes... Happy Mother's Day to YOU, too! Thanks! |

My mom refuses to have anything to do with us offsprangs on mothers day, other than taking our phone calls (if we can catch her at home.) She finds the concept of kids dragging their old moms out to stand in line at overcrowded restaurants on one particular, "special" day, as degrading, and about as much fun as standing in line at an overcrowded restaurant... Go figure. She typically plays golf with the old man instead. No waiting for tee time, as everyone else in the whole country is standing in line at Applebee's. PD http://presstotest.blogspot.com/ ps. Happy mother's day! |

In this world of overpopulation they are extremely irresponsible. What if everyone said 'we will have as many babies as God wishes'. That is a selfish statement. I really wonder where the money comes to support this family and how these children get individual attention from their parents. It seems the older children have to parent the younger ones.

I think it great to have a large family , the problem with the women today is we feel having three are for kids is good. And we should have children before the age of 40. Well you should keep have kids as long as you can keep loving and caring for them.

I've watched the programs as well and I see respect, responsibility and very much love. I guess it's all in how you look at things. If you want to see ugly, that's what you'll see. There is a lot to be learned from this family. They value family, education and hard work ethics. For all the negative comments I've read (and they have been in the majority), I ask "does belittling this family make you feel better?" How sad for you. I congratulate this family for promoting love, respect, education and loyalty.

I couldn't agree with you more! These kids are loved, and valued. Their parents not only have the means to support them, but commit their resources to doing just that. Kudos to them! As for your question, "Does belittling them make you feel better?" consider the comments of those who have responded negatively. Paul D says his mother has no desire to see her kids on Mother's Day. Either Paul was and is undesirable as a child, or his mother's just to busy to have time for him. The local gal probably falls into the same category.(People, after all, learn the values she espouses from somewhere. Maybe she too, was an unwanted child.) As for the world population problem -- some countries are undergoing crises of under-population. We were surprised to hear from my daughter a couple years back that England was paying their women to stay home and have babies because of a perceived shortage of children. Friends informed us that Italy had done the same thing a few years back when they lived there. Of course, the poorer nations continue to have problems with over-population. Then again, those same nations have high infant/child mortality rates, suggesting few of a family's children make it to adulthood. Other countries -- like the PRC -- are having problems because the parents chose to kill off female fetuses, leaving thousands of now grown men without mates.(This is, however, great for those families that elected not to abort their female offspring because the laws of supply and demand allow the daughters to be married to the healthiest, strongest, and most successful males.) |

What an asinine comment you've made. My mother prefers not to be dragged kicking and screaming into the mother's day lunacy for the following reasons: 1) None of her kids need a mandated "special" day in order to remind them that they ought to go see their old Ma, and express their love to her every once in a while. We do this all throughout the year, and therefore mother's day just ain't anything special for us. 2) Mother's day is the worst possible day of the year to go out and eat. The restaurants are jammed with poor examples of filial "love," those wonderful sons and daughters who only see Ma once a year, and who treat the occasion not as a pleasant experience, but as a dreaded, annual duty. As for the uterus-falling-out, litter creating freak with 18 kids, it's a free country. If she wants to spend her entire life in a constant state of pregnancy, it's entirely up to her - but only as long as she and the freak she married are financially able to provide for the small town they've created. I'd be willing to bet though, that they are not, and that they are in fact receiving public assistance of one form or another; unless of course, Mr. Spermfountain is a movie star or maybe a professional ball player. If that's not the case, then along with just being generally irresponsible and downright disgusting, they're also freeloaders. And... Now that I think about it, even if they're not on food stamps and/or welfare, I wonder how much dependent tax exemption they've averaged over the course of their personal quest to overpopulate the planet? Disgusting, man. Disgusting. Like wild dogs. PD http://presstotest.blogspot.com/ |

This is obscene in this day and age.
Some one please send them a box of games to play. I'm sure they watch very little tv. |

Paul D you are misinformed about their financial state. I do not know the Duggar's personally, but I know people who know them personally...and they are DEBT FREE. They have standard monthly bills that everyone has, electricity, water, insurance etc....but that's all.
How are your finances? Completely out of debt? Let me guess, it's none of my business....and you're right, it's not my business, next time though, maybe you'll think before you spout off about non existant federal/state aid recieved by this family. Again, since I do know people who know them personally, I know that their children DO have friends outside the family. Their children are happy, well adjusted and well behaved. More respectful and harder working than most, and fully understand the value of a dollar. Yep...sounds like these people's children are SO much worse off than most these days.... You have no idea what you're talking about. You're just bashing them to make yourself feel better about something and that's just plain mean and wrong. I feel sorry for YOU.
