(to the tune of Taxman)

If you know what's good for you,
You'll do just what you're told to do.
Cause I'm ol Mayor Bob, yeah, I'm ol Mayor Bob.

If you rent your place I'll tax the lease,
If you fry some fish I'll tax the grease,
If you fought a war I'll tax your place
If you go to church I'll tax your grace.

Don't ask me what I want it for.
My cop won't let you through the door.
Cause I'm ol Mayor Bob, Yeah, I'm ol Mayor Bob
And I'll listen to no one but me.

You have a lot of time on your hands. Now I see why Mayor Peters makes a lot of his decisions without considering your input because everything would be a song and a dance with you people!

You should go to a MSF meeting! They sit around on pillows on the floor, all holding guitars and passing around a bong, and make up songs about peace and Mayor Bob.

This is so true that I can't laugh. Our city is out of control, the rubber-stamp council is worse than the bobbleheads ever were, and our mayor has told the citizens to stfu. When is the next election for any city positions coming up? It is time to send a message.

During the last election, just before we voted Bob Peters out.

And darned good thing we did, too. Look at what he's tried to do. Think how bad things would be if he was actually the legitimate Mayor.

We would rather let our fellow R.O.P. Peters run the city into the ground, drive us into bankruptcy, and cause the remaining citizens under the age of 65 (all twelve of them) to move away in disgust, than to EVER admit that we might have been even partially wrong about MSF.

Well, in my humble opinion, the group IS goofy. And they ARE just another clique in LF, again imho. BUT ... history proved that they were right about a couple of important things, not the least of which is just how BAD our Mayor and Council are about doing things in secret and hiding important information from the voters. Worse, it seems like our mayor uses that goofy group as a scapegoat to defuse public anger when he gets caught lying to us or hiding really important stuff from us. WE ... you, me, all of us ... need to stop being patsies whom the Mayor plays like a fiddle.

He's not "our" Mayor, and the sooner people quit calling him that the better we will be. We voted him out.

And now, he's basically flat-out telling citizens to STFU. Cliques? The only clique I see around here is Bobbby's goons. They are the ones who control things around here, not MSF.

No. Not "our" Mayor at all. We are smarter than that.

This is an attempt at a serious reply. The mayor should not really control much, by design. It is NOT the role of city government to manage the local economy, etc.

But the problem with Peters is that he is addicted to using property tax policy to take some really big risks with things he doesn't quite understand ... things that can have a profound and damaging impact on people and businesses in Little Falls. That is why he got in trouble with the quarry ... he didn't understand the possible (and I am not saying they were definite) risks to the city, and he utterly refused to listen to people who did not agree with the pretty picture those salesmen from Sphere painted for him.

That is also why Peters is getting in trouble with the cockamamie scheme to tax the non-profits ... he doesn't understand the risks, and he utterly refuses to listen to people who disagree with his preconceived ideas.

Peter needs to join a Gamblers Anonymous group, and quick, because he is compulsively gambling with OUR money and our future!

He also gets in trouble because he lies about it. Remember how he lied to our faces about rezoning the quarry? He said there was nobody going into the quarry when he told the council to rezone it, and then we found out that a month earlier he had been present at the IDA meeting where Sphere signed an agreement to go into the quarry. We caught Peters telling us a bald-faced lie about something that might have destroyed a whole bunch of downtown businesses. Whether it would have or not is moot, the point is that with something that important the mayor should not lie to us and try to trick us while he is making risky decisions about public matters behind closed doors. We should have impeached his worthless ass for that bald-faced lie.

I disagree with not developing the quarry, but like you said it is no longer an issue. Peters is a fool, he listens to no one as far as I can tell. He is bound to fail for this reason. He continues to create committees that have no real power and accomplish nothing. He has to hire supporters, he alienated any real friend he ever had, very sad. The council is full of one term idiots or agenda driven ego-maniacs. I see hard times ahead for those who really care for our city.

Exactly, a lot of people disagreed about the quarry, but they knew it was important so they tried to figure it out. They talked to each other, and they listened. Peters acted like an absolute idiot by not listening to anyone who disagreed with those boys from Sphere who sold him on the project (and the terms of all the tax breaks). He wouldn't even go to the town meeting on the quarry. He just no-showed.

Not only did he lie, but he and the board also squarely broke the law when they rezoned the Quarry that way. It's called "segmentation" of a proposed development project, and it's very very illegal. Yes, he should have been impeached, and IMO, jailed.

So what do we do now? Agree or disagree with MSF, when they saw a problem (real or imagined) they organized and did something. What can we do to take back our City? Who will lead us?

Can we entice Jean Valjean Linen?

Don't follow leaders. Watch the parking meters.

Seriously. That's half the problem here. Everyone looking for someone to lead them. Lead yourself.
