During the State of the City address, the idiot said:

"“After the demolition of the center and western portions of the building, the Price Chopper grocery chain will begin construction on the west end of the site, with an opening in the fall or early spring."

Remember, this is the same idiot in the same newspaper whose last work on the parking lot at Garden and Second was that it would be completed in November 2011.

But think about this latest piece of BS from Peters. Fall to early spring? In other words, sometime between September to May?

I've helped build grocery stores...and to have fully an 8 month window of uncertainly as when the doors are going to open really means that you don't actually have decision on when, or perhaps if, to even start.

Whatever it opens we will be happy.
To obsess over every word the mayor says does not speak well about you.

I just want a decent grocery store with a good selection of foods. I thought construction was supposed to begin this month. Atleast that's what was said in the fall

Why are you so disrespectful? I guess it's because you can be cowardly and not put your name on here. It's not the mayor that's the problem in this city, it's cowards like you. Go to the council meetings and voice your halfwit opinions there.

Well, the Price Chopper company hasn't said anything, but the Little Falls Evening Times, the Mayor, and the Herkimer County IDA all have gone on record saying it's a done deal.

Three sources which have established an unblemished record of honesty, accuracy, and integrity, wouldn't you say?

OMG! A really useful link, from UTLT of all people. I have to say thank you, for a change. In between your trolling episodes, you do contributes some useful stuff from time to time.

Anyway, I want to play the part of the devil's advocate. The Golub boy points out that this ultra-small Price Chopper concept they are trying in Little Falls is a new concept, and something they have not really done in the past. It may not prove to be profitable, for one of any number of reasons. If that is the case, they will pull the plug on it. In five years time, we may be begging the Big M to come back to Little Falls.

The new concept or format is the mega store in Latham.

"While the 50,000 to 60,000-square-foot market is Price Chopper's "sweet spot," says Golub, it's rolling out 30,000-square-foot stores for smaller communities such as Little Falls, Alexandria Bay, and in Storrs, Conn.
At the opposite end of the scale, it's expanding its already hefty Latham supermarket into what Golub calls "the store of the decade."
Cooking classes, freshly prepared foods, and a place to dine are some of the features planned. Given the hypercompetitive market for groceries, Golub isn't willing to disclose too many details.
But he says the store "will be a completely new format for us," with a "re-engineering of our fresh departments and the center store" — where supermarkets keep their packaged goods, Price Chopper also will pay plenty of attention to food displays and lighting.
"The store experience is something I'm really focused on," Golub said.

The old Big M seems to be being stripped of anything of value, metals, fixtures, etc. I only hope the new Price chopper has emloyees as great as the old big m staff. They were always helpful, and the store was always well maintained. Unlike the Dollar General.

This poster is Jean, Jamacia Style, etc, etc. He's just mad because the project is moving forward and he's been proven wrong again. Let's review all of the Topix he said wouldn't happen:

1) He said Stewarts would never build a new building in the City of Little Falls. Wrong.
2) He said the new Ann Street bridge would lead to a weird sidewalk configuration that would ruin that end of Ann Street. Wrong.
3) He said that Price Chopper project would never do business with the City. Wrong.
4) He said mayor Bob would never clean up Asbestos Mountain. Wron...okay, 1 out of 4 aint bad.

Please read clearly. The OP, who does sound like Jean, was making fun of Peters for misspeaking and saying PC would open this Spring.

The NEW poster, who does not sound like Jean, is claiming that PC is pulling out over bonding, which I have not heard, and I will not lend any credence to this rumor so long as the construction equipment is still working on the site.

The only reason the PC project went through is that they DIDN'T do business with the city. Bobby had absolutely NOTHING to do with that project, which is why it is succeeding. Remember, Bobby's vision was a shuttered downtown and a grocery store in the quarry.

Blah blah blah. He said PC wouldn't do business here. Stop quibbling over semantics.
