Correction. Jeff is not alone in this, not at all. The Council voted unanimously and several spoke in agreement. Were you there? I heard it. Furthermore, if you were there, you would know that this was the will of MANY people, all of whom attended that night to watch their reps do what they asked. He is hardly a voice in the wilderness. THE PEOPLE have spoken.

So the Mayor must back off.

It is out of Bob's hands, it's the Utica lawyer who is standing on principle. The common council didn't speak for Residents of LF's, They voted to stop being harrassed, bullied, and threatened by Deluca, Gressler,Bart, and MSF. There are some pissed of residents who are furious overr the shenanigans of the above mentioned "community advacates", again this is far from over.

So you are just lying, then. The lawyer has no standing if the client has withdrawn its claim. Some Utica shyster cannot speak on behalf of the City of Little Falls if the City has in fact withdrawn. Nice attempt at trolling, though!

What a dumb post. You watch too many lawyer movies. The lawyer the City hired is forging ahead "on principle" without getting paid?

Since when have you ever heard of a lawyer "standing on principle?" If this attorney is pursuing the matter against the wishes of the client, they are guilty of an ethics violation and should be referred to the State Office of Professional Licensing and should be reprimanded or disbarred. If the Mayor has ordered continuing this investigation over the vote of the City Council, he should be impeached.

Once it is in the supreme court it can't be stopped, and standing on principle in Little Falls is uncommon, but apparently in the real world it is not. I guess we will have to wait and see. And what is that number, I know a local judge who needs to be reported.

Bwahahahaha! This is the Y's lawsuit, you tool. They can withdraw it just as soon as the city commits not to tax them! It's not nice to try to troll us on something as sensitive as this.

I'm not at all sure why the Y SHOULD drop the lawsuit. After all, they have incurred about $30,000 in expenses since the Mayor and his attack assessor have launched this illegal and arbritary witch-hunt.

Not just our Y, but the National YMCA, and, churches, no doubt do NOT want to let stand a situation where some two-bit Mayor and his attack assessor can just launch political vendettas against the Y and leave them holding a $30,000 bill to defend themselves. It's a horrible precedent to leave standing.

Just my own opinion..but I'd like to see the National YMCA continue to pursue and fund this compliant with the aim of having the City repay them all their expenses over this nonsense. Put the City taxpayers, who elected these clowns, on the hook for paying for the nonsense of these elected officials. The alternative is that the local Y members alone should absorb the cost of the folly of Mayor Bob. No, the entire taxpayers need to bear that burden, IMO. Maybe next time they'll think twice about electing a cabal of village idiots.

I agree with your sentiments and your sense of anger ... but sadly in the US it is very difficult to recover court costs in tort cases.

Yes, the laughter is appropriate, spending over 30,000 , launch a lawsuit over 3 mismanaged Y properties. Yes, let's have a good Bwahahahaha...... Wow, that felt good, it's just what I needed, now I can forget about the bullying, threats, corruption, jobs loss, and enjoy the remainder of my day. But before I do just that, Tell my Deluca just didn't let this play out in court like everyone else, why so desperate to end it before he takes the stand? This is bigger then some tax money, and the truth while unacceptable to you buffoons will come out. Let's, wait and see.;-).[QUOTE who.="Fact Check"]<quoted text>

A few points:

1. In order to recover legal costs, wouldn't the YMCA have to start a new legal proceeding? From what I gather on here, the city is not going forward with the suit. That doesn't mean that the Y can press its case and in the end recover damages.

2. I don't necessarily buy the argument that Bobby acted in bad faith. In order to recover legal costs, wouldn't the Y have to prove malfeasance of some kind? I'm actually of the opinion that the city had a reasonably good case, which is not to say I supported the city.

By and large, the businesses in Little Falls never get involved in controversial political matters, in part because they are afraid of City Hall, and in part because they like being in business and understand you cannot tell 1000+ local people to pack sand where the sun don't shine if you want to stay in business. So ... you FAIL the reality check.

I can think of just ONE local business that has sided with City Hall against the YMCA, and they can do that be cause they do not really serve local people.

There was a time, and it wasn't long ago, when Peters and his goons probably could have intimidated local businesses into taking their side, out of fear of retribution by City Hall.

Now, they need to fear retribution by the City itself, that is, by the citizens who are this City, if they take the side of Peters.

The day is coming, and it wont be too far away, when actual representative government for the people and by the people will be restored to this City. Then that day arrives, those who supported Peters and his goons will regret that.

People take their government, and thire freedom very seriously. Businesses need to remember that before supporting anyone who would try to take these precious rights away from us and ignore our elected council people, and our petitions.

We need to keep the pressure on Peters and the rest. Any and every issue that arises, e must contest. Even if it a great idea the mayor proposes, lets test his mettle see if he can handle it.
