Heard a rumor a while back that Shu-Maker Mtn. may be re-opening in the near future. Any fact to this or this just a rumor? God, I wish they would reopen. How I miss that place.

Get real. LF had made the decision to be the next economic Appalachia. Section 8 trash doesn't ski. And there is no snow. Yah, can't wait for them to open myself.
This jingle is dedicated to the idiot, troll-poster "Farmer" above and in NO WAY reflects my opinion on the fine Men & Women who are actual farmers and provide us with such bountiful harvests.

The Farmer is a dick,
He's got a little prick,
Heigh-ho, the derry-o the Farmer is a dick.

The Farmer's got no class,
A sticks stuck up his ass,
Heigh-ho, the derry-o the Farmer's got no class.

The Farmer's got no life,
Because he beats his wife,
Heigh-ho, the derry-o the Farmer's got no life.

The Farmer is a tool,
He's playing pocket pool,
Heigh-ho, the derry-o the Farmer is a tool.

The Farmer is a jerk,
He's always out of work,
Heigh-ho, the derry-o the Farmer is a jerk.

I wish they would but it would cost two to three million to get it going again. The cable for the chairs would need replacing and that alone would cost a fortune. Only hope we have is for someone filthy rich to buy and waste a little money just cause they're able to. So never gonna happen

Farmer is right. LF made virtually every wrong decision they could if the intent was to attract skiers to this area. You can have Shumaker Mountain and Sno-bunnies or you can have Asbestos Moutain and Section 8 types. But you can't have both. Enjoy your junkpiles! Oh, and good luck trying to fund your declining rathole by trying to tax non-profit groups while giving tax breaks to profitable businesses. Clueless morons.

Same rumor every year. But I think it would be amazing if they would just open the tee bar. Build a little terrain park off the side. It would be great for the valley and I don't think the cost would be outrageous to get it going.

Insurance in NYS is OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive. I'd guess that is the basic issue with reopening.
Yup. Once again the problem is NY State. I can't wait to get out of here.

Ya, when I go skiing, I first do a google search to see if there is a knocked down building in the nearest town to the ski resort. If there is, I don't go.

Do you actually believe this stupid drivel you post? It's complete and utter nonsense. You must be a college professor.

I'm very sorry, but I cannot think of one single example of a skiing area being located in a junk and rubble filled town, which is actively attracting Section 8 types. On the contrary, virtually every ski resort I can think of is indeed located in a community which practices garbage disposal as opposed to garbage creation.

Therefore, unfortunately, I cannot come up with even a single model to attempt to follow. I'm really sorry because I'd really like to be able to help the community in this regard.

However, let me wish the best of luck to you in simultaneously attempting to attract several million dollars of investment to reopen Shumaker mountain while also rejecting the notion of cleaning up the City. Quixotic endeavors are, at the least, fascinating.

On please. If you can't see that the biggest issue in LF is a few self serving morons who would rather destroy the whole town than relinquish control you are a fool. The issue in LF isn't junk piles, codes or scumbags. It is lust for control.
And if you think people don't want to ski at that mountain because there is a pile of rubble on Garden Street, you're an idiot. The two are not related.

The mountain is not downtown you geographically challenged moron. That mountain closed long before there was rubble on Garden Street. To connect the two is a real stretch. Talking to you yokels is pretty much useless.

Remember when you said Stewarts wouldn't invest in a town that had a rubble pile? Fail.

Remember when you said PC wouldn't invest in a town with a rubble pile? Fail.

And yet you think the rubble pile is what is preventing people from skiing at a closed mountain miles away from said rubble pile?

Moron.

The problem was they had the wrong type of band playng there all the time.It brought in the wrong crowd and turned it into just another bar that most people would not go to. It turned into a place for drunks, fights and a place to get your extra party favors.
