Well, if there is no secret room, where DID you guys decide to give away public property to an individual, rather than advertise it and auction it off?
Give? I remember a transaction of a dollar for a pile of bricks. and Where? Why right out in the open in front of anyone who bothered to attend, that room is called the Common Council Chamber.

It's very interesting that Dave uses the phrase "pile of bricks." Why does he do it?

Is it to help justify giving away a building?("We didn't give the guy a BUILDING, we gave him a pile of bricks.")

Or does he really think the property is that worthless even though some successful business people have taken such a keen interest?

Either way, cause for concern.

Hey Dave, I'll give you a dollar for the pile of wood you own on Diamond Street.

If I could, I'd give Dave a dollar for that block of wood he calls his head.

And it's very difficult keeping up with the latest children's fashions from here, beyond the grave, but Keds, Converse, whatever, all look stupid and disrespectful in my chamber.

Since there was no real public discussion of the transaction at the meeting, did you guys discuss it before the meeting? Again, you are caught in a conundrum between illegal and irresponsible actions:

1.) You did due diligence by discussing the give-away of the property in one or more illegal closed door meetings.

OR

2.) You randomly and irresponsibly decided to transfer a valuable property to a crony for a dollar with no discussion and no questioning of the mayor and his motives.

If stupidity, laziness and irresponsibility were crimes, Burleson, you'd be leg irons right now.

Allow me to ask you a question, Dave, and I'm being sincere: when and where were the open public discussions regarding the 542 E. Main Street property? When and where were the host of public hearings and discussions that lead to the value menu deal Mr. Ruggiero got for that property?

It didn't, we elected a bunch of bobbleheads. We need to elect people who respond to the people and not people who accede to the mayor.

Hi Dave, I'm going to offer two theories as to how this deal went down, and I'd like you to tell me which one is closest to being correct.

A) Did Mr. Ruggiero stand up during the public comment period and say, "Hey everyone, I'd like to offer a dollar for the HoHo's building?", whereupon the mayor and the council offered others the opportunity to make their own offers and/or object to the proposition, and whereupon the council, upon failing to receive another offer or objection, then proceeded to vote yes to the proposal?

B) Or was it arranged beforehand, without public scrutiny, and brought up and passed with little or no discussion or opportunity for others to make their own offer or to object?

Which of the two is approximately how it happened, Councilman Burleson?

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

Only more idiotic and retarded than electing a guy who raked leaves for a living mayor is trying to deny that he won the election. Congratulations, you're actually dumber than Bobby.

WE citizens really would like you to answer this posters questions, Dave.
Nobody that I have talked to in town is in favor of either of these decisions that you and the council made. Please tell us why we should be assured that what you did was right.
Thanks in advance.

All this wailing and flailing over a building that was and is a dump. Was there ever a movement by any one or organization to purchase the HOHO building prior to the work being done on Shoppers Square? This sounds like nothing more than Grudges being held, scores to be settled, axes being ground, and the awarding of the HOHO building is being used as nothing more than a weapon to attack city hall. shame. I hope the new owner can restore the building and makes it a commercial success.

I didn't say HE applied for UR "monies". The city did. Or do you deny that the City Center Redevelopment Program exists, using $245,000 in NY Main Street Grants and $592,000 from the Mohawk Valley Economic Development Corporation, slated to be spent on 542 and 582 E. Main Street? Hmmmmmmmmm, Urban Renewal board member?
Read the paper, they were not granted that money. Key word is applied and not awarded.
