I don't doubt that everything the character says is true.
But his conclusion might be wrong!

His evidence is that the US is....
7th in literacy
27th in math.
22nd in science.
49th in life expectancy.
178th in infant mortality.
3rd in median family income.
4th in labor force.
4th in exports.
[the above are all presented as poor standings]

1st in prison population per capita.
1st in people that believe angels are real.
1st in defense spending.
[the above are all presented as poor standings]

With all of the above being true...
it doesn't mean the US of A isn't the greatest country in the world.

It actually kinda does. It doesn't mean we are the worst, but our pathetic liberal attitude has taken us away from being the best or the greatest.

We shouldn't expect or get anything for free(Healthcare, Unemployment, Welfare, ect....), we should have to work for it.

Our nation has turned into a bunch of fat lazy slobs that think they are owed everything.

This decline started after Reagan. I have been telling this to people for years.

And I'm conservative and LOVE my country; I'd die for it no matter it's state. I want it back that way. I just can't see it ever happening.

With politcal correctness we have concluded our doom. When you start worrying more about what people think of your country instead of the impact that it has on the people of this country then you know your are in trouble.

What part of "shall not infringe" can we not comprehend?

I believe we are paying our dues...you cannot sow forth so much indoctrination and not expect it to change the hearts and will of an entire generation. I believe the proverbial blood to be on OUR hands.

I can't feel sorry for my country. Apparently it doesn't feel MUCH at all any more. Take my assault rifles because of children losing their lives at the hand of one but fund the killing of millions of babies and encourage others not to value the sanctity of life.

What a perverted and misconstrued mentality to preach to our youth who already feel as though they have no consequences.

But go ahead pat the back of blatant fools who push an agenda of "greater good" but while doing so tramp every moral and ethical movement that attempts to defy them.

From our deficit too the mental health state of our country we have waited to long. Now we wish to punish the uninvolved as if some how they contributed to the problem while denying the fact that in some way or another complete blame can't be put on our government of our "great country".

And at the end of the day know that when you look in the mirror you played a key role in the demise of what used to be the greatest country in the world.......YOU!

This country is on the brink of civil war. We may end up like the Balkans, libs killing cons, atheists killing people of faith and visa versa. All because of big government and the suppression of liberty. Wait till people have to buy Obama at 20 a year for the "Bronze" plan, or be put in jail is they can't pay the penalty. Let it happen.

It is lacking in saying we AREN'T the best!
Because:
How do other countries fare on these measures?
Who has the a better 'overall' ranking?
How did AMERICA stack up on these same measures 30 years ago?

We may not be the BEST.
But we are... and we have been... very close to the BEST.

We ARE the best country on earth!
We are a large and diverse country... with some troubling history.
But that does not define our present or our future.

Although millions of Mexicans have come to America for a better life.
(and we fault them for it)
Few Americans have found a BETTER place.

Do you personally know...
of any person who has emigrated to any better place?

Are we perfect?
Far from it!

Very far. Other people think theyre country is the best. Wars have been fought over this kind of thing.

Please explain what you mean by saying "we fault them for it" when referencing the millions of Mexicans that have come to America.

Most people from MOST countries don't move.

You're typically befuddling logic goes something like this: since most Americans don't move away to other countries, this means there isn't a better place to move to...wow, that's brilliant.

That's just UTLT on his high moral horse, from which he looks down on those who thinking entering our country illegally is wrong.

Yes... I am acknowledging that many look down on undocumented aliens.
WHEN... they are looking for a better life.

I think entering the country is illegally is wrong.
But... I am a realist.
They are here... and have been for some time.
And we aren't sending 12 million folks out of the country.

and NOBODY believes that we will,

To paraphrase Jefferson: each generation pays its own way, do not let big corporations own government, when government is allowed to grow big enough to subvert the will of the ordinary man it will be because ordinary man stayed silent and allowed it. I think the best part of this tv drama is that it IS encouraging thought and dialog. The only reason a democratic country stops being the best is when it's citizens cannot dream, think, and act in a democratic fashion.

To be clear, oh great one, we are faulting them for breaking the law, not for wanting a better life. Enough of your partisan ways.

No!
My logic is that NOBODY moves to any BETTER place.
Not 'most'... not 'some'... NONE!
Well... perhaps the CoffeeMaker fellow!

How does Great Britain fare on these international comparisons?
How does ANY country compare to us on these measures?
If the answer is UNKNOWN...
Then you have no way to think the USA is not the best.

Possibly there is a better overall country.
But we have NO evidence of it.

This isn't a MORAL question...
It is a question of lack of information.
