That's what all those train whistles were last night.
Why here?
It doesn't add up.
If he'd taken a beating, no one could possibly tell.
Too many unexplained deaths.
Too many suicides.
What's going on?

When the shock and grief has passed, this community needs to ask about mental health services, if not for this individual ( we have no facts yet) then for all the citizens of the Valley. Try to find a telephone or web listing for mental health services in the telephone book or online. Check the Herkimer County web site to see if you can find mental health resources. If a healthy person can't find the listings and the resources, how can a mentally ill person find help? There are services available delivered by dedicated professionals and good people, but it takes luck and days of searching to find them in an online hunt.

My husband broke my arm.
I didn't report it at the ER, but I didn't want to go home.
I called 911 to ask where I could find a "Safe House".
I explained what a safe house was.
They couldn't tell me.
They couldn't give me any kind of phone ## at all for victims.

Prevention is the key.
Stop pushing alcohol.
Alcohol. The curse of generations.

Alcohol has really terrible effects on society, both for the people who abuse alcohol but also for their children," said Dr. Morgan. "There have been lots of studies showing that risk of psychiatric illness of ALL kinds is much higher in children of alcoholics.

This link gives a # where you can make an appointment for counseling, and the specific hours the receptionist is there to schedule said appointment.
If you are having a crisis - need a suicide hotline - need emergency housing - there is NOTHING.

This site lists some ##'s but doesn't tell if other counties will service a Herkimer resident.
They have a couple of national hotline ##'s too.

When someone's losing it, they're not going to keep making calls to see which one will work!!

Well you should have reported it at the ER.
911 is for Police-Fire and EMS Emergencies, not to answer questions and make referrals. If you had already been to the ER your emergency was over. Should have asked 911 to notify the police.
The problem is that your husband broke your arm, but you didn't want to get him in trouble, so next time he'll do worse.

Go to www.ldrny.org/TOPNEWS/materials/Shelters.pdf for a list of domestic violence shelters in NY. Good luck, and make a plan to get out. You don't deserve that--no one does.

SPLAT !!!!!!!

I feel sorry for the train engineer's and the first responders at the scene that had to look at the squashed tomato !!

If he wanted to kill himself, just run a hose from the exhaust of the SUV to the driver side window and breath deep.

Or just take every pill in the family medicine cabinet.

Now the poor train crew have to live with what happened thanks to this loser.

Who the F gave a mean feedback to this post???? My granddad was a train engineer and some lady took the painless way out by parking on the tracks in front of his train. It traumatized him to have to be the one to send her on her way to the great beyond. Made him feel real bad about himself and cost him like weeks of suspension during the investigation ... you think a death happens and DOT don't care?? Did she ASK him???? NO! If you wanna commit suicide, do it yourself and don't hurt someone else.
I agree

That was my first thought to. Of course I thought about the poor family of the man who commited suicide and I can't even imagine what they must be going through but I also feel for the CSX driver that was driving the train when it hit the man. That poor man is forever going to remember the night he killed a man. It isn't going to matter to him that he was commiting suicide, all he's going to think about is that he's somehow responsible. I feel so sorry for him and his family because their lives (alone with the family of the suicidal man) will never be the same.

PS These people will talk to you on the phone. If you want them to and you feel like you may hurt yourself they will come to where you are and meet with you. If they feel you are in any danger they will help you to a hospital and get you on the medication you need to help till the crisis passes.

actually you moron his son, who is my friend, did see all of this. I hope you lose someone close to you, and it hurts so bad that you cannot function normally. I hope someone bags on your lost one and glorifies their death for all to see. You sir, and I use that term loosely, are a spineless excuse for a human being. In fact if you are such an authority on killing one's self, why don't you demonstrate for the rest of us. That was seriously rude and uncalled for. I hope you rot, dirtball.
