I lived here back in the 70s and was really happy. There were lots of jobs, restaurants, stores and no rotten, falling down houses and piles of junk and garbage around the city. So I moved back a few months ago thinking it was the same and am truly suprised and appalled.
The BEST place I've found around IS the Bella Vista.
WHY would anyone want to invest the kind of money it takes to have and run a decent restaurant in an area like this? People don't want to travel to a place that doesn't take care of it's streets and make landlords take care of the houses up to codes. No one wants to come into this city and see delapitated, falling down houses and piles of debris left around. You are absolutely right Jean! The people in this community NEED to DESPERATELY ask themselves WHY everyone keeps leaving and do everything they possibly can to stop it from happening.
After reading various comments posted on here by you, all I can say is: Jean Linen for Mayor!
AND You have definitely got my vote!
If I can last long enough and don't move out of Little Falls that is...
Now I am assuming by your name that you are a woman. Since I do not know you personally I cannot be sure...BUT my parents have lived here their entire lives and I know it to be true that
the men have been in control long enough and haven't been able to "fix" Little Falls but have ONLY made things worse! It is time for the women to take over and show THEM how it's done! How about a woman mayor, police chief, fire chief, town supervisor, entire city board?
BALONEY

You "moved back here" and THEN found out that the place wasn't like it was in the 70s. We're supposed to believe that you just up and moved here, maybe rented an apartment or bought a house, without examining the state of the City?

Please.

Let's elect a woman...that's your solution?

You know, on second thought, I DO believe you moved back here without checking anything.

And can't tell the truth to save his/her life. We have a demolished house at the corner of 2nd & Garden (that needs to be cleaned up Mr. Mayor!!) yet he/she pretends that one lot is indicative of the entire city...simply not true. Look at all the restaurants we still have for such a small town:
Marocco's Pizza on Main St
Sandwich Chef on Main St
Ed's Pizza on Main St
Happen Inn on Main St
Ed & Bud's on Main St
Enea's Italian Feast on Main St
Cafe Espresso on Main St
Great Wall basically on Main St
That is 8 establishments in about a 1/4 mile of each other.
Ann St Deli down by the Canal
Canal Side Inn down by the Canal
Piccolo Cafe down by the Canal
That is 3 establishments in about 100 yards of each other.
Yup, we support 11 restaurants, a McDonalds, a Motel (with a restaurant & bar) a movie theater and many other bars & clubs all within a mile of each other.
I guess Jean Linen is just always going to say "pick up your trash" yet can't see that the trash we need to pick up is him/her!
No need for personal attackes. And our restaurant list includes several bars. This is not the cetnter of gourmet dining at all. PS Great Wall is shutting down.

Apparently YOU can read and write and slam people BUT obviously do not comprehend what you read! AS I SAID, I moved back here to help my elderly parents who have lived here their entire life!!
Hmmmmmm you are very hostile and mean and your aggression is unwarranted and unappreciated so if you don't have anything decent to add to conversations WHY do you even bother??
AND YES IT IS ABOUT TIME the women of Little Falls got a shot at running the show. We couldn't possibly do as bad as the men have for centuries! Have a nice day in spite of yourself!!

The way some of you respond to other human beings on here is a HUGE part of the reason GOOD people do not stay in this city. You ALWAYS make it a PERSONAL ATTACK and THAT is EXACTLY why nothing EVER gets better. I WISH YOU WOULD ALL GROW UP AND FIX LITTLE FALLS INSTEAD OF ATTACKING THOSE THAT SEE IT FOR WHAT IT REALLY IS AND WANT TO MAKE IT BETTER!
I have a great idea Victrola and Just stop fer Crizsake....why don't both of YOU just go away and TRY to come as SOMETHING we might all like here in Little Falls???
I will be ignoring you and your ignorant comments thats sole purpose is to incite and anger, definitely NOT to help in any way.
Unlike you I can control myself especially when it comes to a issues over a city I love like Little Falls.

Aw c'mon...Jean Linen dishes it out ALL the time and is the epitome of a topix troll - CONSTANTLY hammering 1 point like a broken record. Furthermore, I never said LF was the center of gourmet dining...I just said we support at least 11 restaurants.

If you want me to bring up gourment dining then I will say that Little Falls ALSO has Bella Vista and Beardslee Castle.

Some on the list also do a lot of bar business but also have GREAT food. The burgers at Ed & Bud's are fantastic and the bar food at Happen Inn is top-notch pub grub.

I didn't even mention the Elks which does a pretty busy Friday night dinner. To the other hard-working businessfolks in LF whose name I may have left off (Crabby's & MV Country Club sorry about that!!)- I apologize it was not on purpose. Anyway, we support at least 15 food establishments as well as a White Rose Bakery & Kelly's Meat Market.

Why is Ed and Bud's and McDonalds on the list but real restaurants like Bella Vista and MV Country Club are not?

I would put Bella Vista on the list myself, because it is in the town. And Ed & Buds food rocks! What about Father Steve's B&B? That should go on the list too.

Hey, is Overlook Mansion open yet as a B&B? Would love to see the renovated place! Sorry slightly off topic but "my thoughts" sai Father Steve's B&B and that reminded me of it.

BTW "My thoughts" what/where is Father Steve's B&B?

We love Ed & Buds for many reasons but you've never had a good burger if you think their burgers are great! They are fine but a long way from great.

And White Rose would go out of business if a real baker came to town or Costco's muffins were nearby.

I apologize to sound curmudgeonly but LF is not a dining mecca people!!

And whats this about Great Wall? Now we will have no cheap Chinese food at all in this town? Hohoho.

Portobello Inn, on Route 5 just outside of Little Falls. Steve, Roland and the other gentleman are excellent cooks and gracious hosts.

I hear Overlook is opening soon. But I don't know first hand.

* You do sound like a curmudgeon.
* Never said LF was a dining mecca.
* Seriousely, who has a better burger in LF than Ed & Bud's?
* Costco?? Is that the best you can come up with within a 120 mile radus of LF is a Costco for muffins?
* If more people went to Great Wall you probably wouldn't be hearing rumors that they might be closing.

How's this sound?

-- On a Friday, LF needs a "get out and eat" event to support all of our local restaurants!
-- Then on Saturday, we can hold our "get out and run" 5k fun run event to support a charity?
-- Then on Sunday, we can have a "get out and pray" event where everyone shows up at their local church.

Is that too much for an old curmudgeon like yourself? Maybe we should just all go back to complaining?

Just once I would love to have a conversation on Topix without Jean Linen interjecting!

Jean Linen - you are a completely miserable person. Do you have family or are you alone? Have you ever been married or have you always lived alone? Do you have kids & do they ever visit you - I bet not because they probably don't like being around you either. Have your kids ever brought your grandkids to see you - again I bet not...or maybe they did just once to see if you could indeed ever become a decent human being...they found out you cannot so they don't visit anymore.

I just said a prayer for you, I truly did.

You spoke to your imaginary friend in the sky on my behalf, did you? Presumably you asked your imaginary friend to pick up the garbage around this City, am I right?

Gee, Thanks.

Did your imaginary friend talk back to you?
