I am glad that Officer Sole is ok. He was only doing what he is supposed to do. It was a difficult situation & I'm sure that he knew Pete & is probably upset that things came to what they did. The sad part is that Pete Riva was a nice guy that fell in love w/ the wrong person. The woman he allegedly tried to run over Lisa Rose had been tormenting and manipulating him for years. She stole from him and more, when he would try to resolve issues through the courts unfortunately it was always his word against hers, and she a manipulative con artist, that would always manage to sway things to her advantage. Nobody really knows what Pete was thinking in those final moments, but I bet if you ask anyone who knew him, problems are one thing, but this kind hearted man was not a monster or a murderer. Maybe his heart just couldn't take any more. What the news doesn't tell you is that while Officer Sole & the theif/ crackhead that was hit by the car were being rushed to Saint Joes hospital, Pete Riva lie handcuffed and bleeding w/ 3 bullets in his chest, still alive, w/o any family members being notified. This has not been confirmed, but the family has been told, it took 38 minutes before he was put into an ambulance. nobody & i mean nobody should die that way. he was not given a chance to survive & tell his side of the story. I am not defending him, I just think that he should have been given medical attention immediately like the others. Just imagine if he was your brother.

Once upon a time, a long time ago, when he was young and handsome in high school, I dated Pete for nearly a year. I remember he wanted to become a doctor. He was working on restoring a '56 Chevy and he played the guitar. He was a great guy, but, even then, I came to learn that he had a terrible temper. I am sick over hearing all of this, but it's not the first time he has "lost" it. Many years ago when he was a Totowa police officer he had another "melt down" which he attributed to his stint in Viet Nam. He didn't shoot anyone that time, but he did threaten to and became suicidal. It was that incident that led to his dismissal from the Totowa Police Dept. I was shocked over hearing and reading about that tirade and now this very sad and violent ending after so many years. I will always remember him as the young vibrant man he had been...not the troubled person he became.

Please dont spread rumors when its obvious you dont have a clue what you are talking about.
Incorrect. Pete was at the hospital being worked on in the trauma room before the "pedestrians" even arrived there. Again, Incorrect. He was already on his way to the hospital within 15 mins of the incident. Not only that, but paramedics provide pre-hospital care en route to the hospital so he was already had advanced treatment before he arrived. These are facts coming from someone who was THERE. |

Instead of Speaking bad about him and putting him down even more just don't post. Simple as that. People who speak bad of the dead will rot in hell and when you all die, I hope people speak bad of you. It is just wrong. Family and friends are grieving and you all talk crap like that.
Yes it is very sad what happened, unfortunate, some of us liked Pete and will miss him. He made a mistake that cost him his life sadly. Officer Sole, I wish you a speedy recovery and good health, you did what you had to do, nothing can change the past now. But people please stop making a hard time worse for his friends and loved ones. Kill the hate post. |

Believe what you want. The television and newspapers have written so many different stories about the Angel I refer to as Pete Reva but know this...after only a short time, I called that man my father. He was a brother, a father, a mentor, and an icon of PEACE for hundreds of people. If you have ANY doubts about my statements, feel free to attend his funeral and REALLY see how many people this man has touched. He had problems with family and people in the past...who hasn't? It says in the bible that "He who is without sin, HE shall cast the first stone". For those of you who think you have a right to judge this man or his actions, start counting your blessings that you were never as tormented inside as he must have been to commit this act. Pete was very proud and also a HERO! He was shot during Viet Nam while saving a man who was injured and screaming for help...that man survived and Pete never even got his name. At the scene of a car accident, a pregnant woman was stuck in a car leaking gasoline crying for her life and the life of her unborn child...Pete climbed into the car and stayed with her until she was extracated from the car. During a three alarm house fire, Pete heard children crying from the street that their dog was still in the house...Pete went into that house and rescued that dog for him...this man was not a killer, he was a HERO! Pete has blessed so many people just by being there and in his remaning days on this earth, he was on the beach in Avon blowing giant bubbles and flying kites for little kids. My heart goes out to the police officers involved in this incident. I pray that they are all well and blessed with a clear concious knowing that Pete is now a rest. He would NEVER have killed another police officer because he loved and respected that profession more than any man has ever loved a job. My name is Jamie and I am not ashamed to tell you that he has brought sunshine into my life and shown me what love is like. My heart goes out to his absolutely LOVELY family who is grieving and could use as much support as possible. Finally, I speak for many others who have known him and DON'T have a computer to write on his behalf for him. To know Pete was to love him and to be blessed by him. Please, before you call him crazy or a nut...remember that he was loved so much and had so much love in his heart that he simply couldn't take it any more. Don't listen to rumors. We all know the facts of what happened that night. We can read them in the paper over and over again or...we can say a prayer for all of those involved and thank God that we're all OK. If you don't believe in God than think about another quote we've all heard before "If you don't have anything nice to say...don't say anything at all.".

any one who knew Pete knew he was a charming delightful man who had serious issues. Three police departments as well as the probation department knew of his past incidents and still thought it was a good idea to have this nut involved in law enforcement. He stabbed women and took them hostage and remained on police departments. The way his life ended was the only way it could end. Incidentally, Pete's claim that he had served in Vietnam was convincing, but untrue. Pete was a private in the National Guard and his unit never left Totowa. How he managed to fool everyone is a mystery. Officer Sole did God's work.

Sorry Im not Lynn, but I do know of her. I am the son of another one of his victims. So I lived it as well. Anyway enough said. We will all sleep better knowing he wont be bothering us any more. |

I agree 100%. Pete needed serious help. The system failed Pete and the public, and many woman and their families and friends suffered at his hands. Glad that Officer Sole is ok and that Pete is off to a place where he might finally find some peace. He was a menace to the world. |

My first impression of Pete (female intuition) was that Pete was a psychopath. He was one of the scariest people I ever met. At the time, I knew nothing about his past and he scared me from head to toe. The world is a safer place.
