I was in the casino at the time of this incident and I must say first of all it was the Security staff that took custody of the individual that was noted as the suspect in this crime. The suspect started a fight with another individual and one of the security officers wearing a white shirt and dark sweater jumped in to break it up. I was aware of Dover's finest but they allowed the security staff to take control of the situation. I commend this one officer for his disregard for his own safety to protect mine and those around me.
2nd of all, why did Dover's finest not take control of the situation knowing that there was a a weapon, ie: gun involved. There were probably 20 people in that area and the security staff risked life and limb to secure this suspect already confirmed with a very recent history of a dangerous crime. Oh Dover's finest was behind the security staff.
3rd and final! I returned to shake the hand of the security officer that, I felt saved my life and those around me to only find he is no longer employed with Dover Downs. I asked one officer of the incident and the officer told me that he could not comment but lost a great supervisor as a result of that weekend's events and that's how he rolled. He was all business and took to heart what he did here. I for one am appalled at Dover Downs and will never return for this reason and will be mailing in my Platinum card.
