We have relatives in the Canton area, and they do trick or treating on the Sunday before Halloween in the middle of the afternoon, so they already did it last Sunday! That is insane - it totally takes away from the fun of Halloween.

Our younger child is so confused by this - he doesn't understand why we all don't trick or treat on the real holiday.

If Halloween is on Friday or Saturday, we should do it on that day so we don't have to talk our sugared up kids into going to sleep because of school the next day!

There is one thing we are all failing to understand and that is that kids could care less what day it falls on. They just want candy and like wearing the outfits. Parents are the only ones that care about the times.

you mean they "couldn't care less", but yes you are correct. However parents may restrict the candy consumption that evening in fear the kids won't get enough sleep for school the next morning, thus angering the little ones.

No I mean "Could" care less. I just think they're lazy and not trying hard enough in their non-caring ways.

Could care less means they could not care in other words.

"Could care less" means exactly that, they still care a little...but could care less than the level at which they currently care

the correct usage would be "couldn't care less"

this phrase is often misused.

Actually Dirk is right, it should have been "couldn't". I misused it and Dirk was kind enough to correct me. He's right, it's misused often, usually by me.

I'm from Houston, TX, where Trick-or-Treat always happens on the 31st no matter what day of the week it is or what else is going on on the 31st. If it's raining, the kids go out with umbrellas. I don't understand why trick-or-treat would fall on any other day.

Do some major Deliverance on yourself for ever celebrating halloween. Burn any left over halloween stuff in your home. Don't even open your doors to pass out "tracts". If you do, then you are celebrating this unholy day.

No matter what you think of halloween, know that it is the very highest satanic holy day. As a Christian, you should not be observing it in any way, especially IN your church. The catholic church is responsible for this day to be placed in the church.

Halloween has never been a Christian holiday, and it has no place in the life of a born again Believer in JESUS CHRIST. In fact, it is an abomination to God, and we should take our stand firmly against it. As we look at its history, we find that its roots go deep into heathenism, paganism, satanism and the occult; and its modern expression is no better.

I thought Columbus decided a couple years ago that it would be on Halloween night no matter what day it fell on? As soon as it is Saturday nite, they change it again.

Don't really care what night its on. This way we can go trick or treating twice. Once in our neighborhood in Newark and once at my sister's place in Westerville. My only complaint is Newark's hours. 5-6:30???? C'mon folks. Most people aren't home from work by 5, then to only have it for an hour and a half? What gives?
