This whole episode is outrageous and embarrassing.

Along with the Clayton County educational crisis, we now have the apparent inability of local officials to adequately govern in Lithonia.

I've lived in Virginia, Illinois, Connecticut, New York and Georgia, and I've never seen the level of incompetence in local government as I've seen here.

Is this the best we can do? Please, let's get it together...

A real shame that officals are acting like school kids on a play ground. I cannot believe that she is still in office. If she hadn't acted a fool in the fist place, none of this would of come to pass.
Don't they have better things to do?

Lithonia and its fine citizens are a bad joke. Perdue needs to send the GBI in today and find out what exactly is going on and resolve it. To spend tax money having police officers guarding the Mayor's office is pure insanity. Sadly, its foolishness like this that makes it harder to bring new companies to Georgia and keeps us in the national news ... along with Clayton County B of E .... reinforcing the old "country bumpkin" image some have of us.

Gov. Purdue ... please take a few minutes from your busy day and DO SOMETHING. Its obvious that the citizens of Lithonia and of Clayton County lack the collective ability to grasp and solve their own problems.

How hard would it have been to box the stuff up and put it in a locked storage facility? One key would take the place of several officers and save a lot of tax dollars!

You need to go back to school and study your history. There were State Supreme Court justices who couldn't even read.

Why do you ask the same qustion? You must want to start some kind of debate. But to answer your question--they're both in the old,tired,south-minded, keep people down, racist/prejudiced state of Georgia. hmmmmm.

Wait ... hey ... we missing it ... for all you folks with no kids ... NOW is the time to buy new homes in Clayton County. That's right folks, it's "Sale" time. Might even be able to get some school properties cheap. What they gonna do with them when there are no kids left. Better yet ... the ppl from Lithonia can move to Clayton and we'll have all the nut jobs in one place. Lithonia city council ppl can run for Clayton County Council and then they could work with the Clayton County Board of Education to create .... no .. wait .. that's Steven Speilberg stuff. LOL

Unfortunately it would be nice to think this is the first time things of this nature have happened...but it's not...and it is happening all over the country...no matter the "color" of those in charge. The bottomlin is - we the citizens need to THINK when we vote and ask serious questions of those we are considering voting for to manage our municipalities.

You can harp on "what do these situation have in common" or get out and vote.

Most of these areas are made up of people of various ethnic groups which means it's everyone's problem...especially considering that tax dollars are going to this stuff that is going on.

Folks need to start voting with their minds and not for those that just look like them.

All comments are accpeted however the city of Lithonia should be respected in the sense that it is crying for help. Try not to confuse city council indecency with city turmoil. The tension will be eased with belief and community sencerity to accomplish one positive goal at a time.
