BAF Coach - Mom wrote: As a coach, I'm completely offended at these last few comments. As a parent, even more so! I've sat back long enough and read through everyone's opinions and have to tell you - people, these are children! Ages 4-12. Let them be children and do what they love to do! If they don't love it, take them home. I have a football player & cheerleader at BA park. We have been there for 3 years and we all have enjoyed every minute of it. As for my daughter, I put her in cheerleading for her benefit, not my own. Sure, cheerleading is not what her future is as an adult, but IT IS what her "now" is. And just let me clarify a little something about cheerleading: it teaches her discipline, self confidence, coordination, teamwork and not to mention, she's making lifelong friends. So how dare any of you say that it means nothing to be a cheerleader. For those of you who moan and complain about how you think BA is such a bad park, not everyone will mesh well everywhere they go. Feel free to take your family somewhere else. I guarantee you that there will be something at your next park that you will find fault with or feel the need to complain about. GO FALCONS! See, when you are actually IN the clique you have no clue. Why? Because when you're in your own little exclusive group everyone else is SUPPOSED to be treated like "outsiders". Thankfully the children are too young to realize they're being pawned in this way.

Silly us!!! These girls are absolutely right. We should do it the Obama Way. Since 3% of Bill Arp participants are unhappy with the situation every thing should be changed to make them happy!!!

My son plays football at BA and he is the best player on the team. He really likes the best cheerleader on the team and says he is going to marry her some day. Oh crap, that is his sister but what the heck this is Douglas county isn't it?

Charles Farley wrote: <quoted text> I hate to say it, but you are SO right. Anyone who seriously wants to see their daughter do well will not rely on cheer leading. Few of them reach potential in such a sexist "profession". Cheer leading Moms are totally fooling themselves. OR, they are just trying to prop their little girls up so they can be married off into a decent situation. It's barbaric if you REALLY think about it. They are your daughters. Why sell them SO short????? CF A few years ago, some of the mothers I saw were just living vicariously through their daughters. These were women that did nothing in school (I went to school with a couple of them) when they were kids and now coach their daughters as if they knew what they were doing. I don't know any one currently associated with the park, but when I did, it was funny to me who was in charge and how they handled the kids. Young girls shouldn't bump and grind. That's just one issue I have. The other is the unsafe stunts that were attempted with such small girls. None of the girls seemed to have any training in gymnastics and were not coordinated enough to do what these mothers had them doing. I'm hoping that the coaches in charge of the girls now have at least some experience and a clue as to what young girls can and can not do.

Forgive me, but I wasn't "in a clique" in high school and darn sure am NOT in one now. If you think there's a "clique" to be in then maybe you're just not part of it based on you're personality. Maybe you, my friend, are an unfriendly person and don't get along well with others. Of course, because I don't who you are, I don't know that for sure. But based on your comments, I'm guessing that I might be right. That being said, I happen to like everyone that I have come in contact with at Bill Arp, including parents, children, coaches & the board members alike. And I certainly don't treat any one person any different than the other, especially the children. So when you say that I'm "part of it and have no clue" - I must disagree. I AM part of an organization that includes many members and happen to enjoy it. But know this, I'm surely not going to make a definite assumption about people I don't know.

BAF Coach - Mom :"And I certainly don't treat any one person any different than the other, especially the children. So when you say that I'm "part of it and have no clue" - I must disagree" Well BAF Coach Mom you must be the only one. My child was treated differently and so was I. We are not from here and that was looked down on. My husband and I are happily married, that was looked down on. We are both professionals, they just couldn't get that. I was never a cheerleader, I just signed my daughter up because she wanted to. We thought it would be fun, but it wasn't. I do agree with everyones general feel though, if you don't like it go elsewhere. You can't change the good ole boy or girl system. We are moving back to NY. I know your next comment will be enjoy, please move back. Guess what we will take our educated selves back to a real city asap. Good luck in hick town.

[QUOTE We are moving back to NY. I know your next comment will be enjoy, please move back. Guess what we will take our educated selves back to a real city asap. Good luck in hick town.[/QUOTE] I apologize that you had a bad experience at Bill Arp. It's really unfortunate that being an "educated person", you have just placed me into this "stereotype" that people from the north have built in their minds about the south. Get to know someone who is really from here (most of the people here are "tranplants" from the north)and you may find that "Southern" people are friendly people. People from the north tend to be rude, hateful, opinionated individuals with little to no regard for anyone else. Maybe because of the fast paced "city life". I don't know? I, myself, having an education & some class, would have never intentionally been rude to anyone - including you. Yes - maybe it's because I AM from the south. Apparently, much different than those from the north. It's called caring about people and being polite, curteous & respectful. Not knowing where I came from...you really don't know what my next comment would have been. You really shouldn't throw stones.

By the way - my husband and I are also happily married with wonderful children and we are both working professionals so I don't think that would have anything to do with it. Did you distance yourself from those around you? Did you give off the impression that you didn't want to be bothered with anyone else? Again - I do truly apologize that you had the experience that you had at Bill Arp and that you feel that weren't welcomed. It's really not like anyone I have met there.? I'm sure that you will be happier back in NY and wish you and your family all the best.

The girls did all of it themselves, not the parent living vicariously through them. but I guess the parent can take some credit for making sure their child gets to all of the practice and competitions, unlike some rec parents who decide not to show up because "ooh it may rain" but let me stay at home and post on this site that my child does not get enough Rec time. wah wah

That's funny...people in the south tend to feel that way about people from the north...regardless I think we could all be a little bit nicer but that's just me...I could be wrong.:-)
