I've been reading alot about the need for a new school in LItchfield. I finally went to see what GMS was actually like by taking a tour of the school (and free breakfast too). Can't pass up free food! Anyhow, the place is a dump and according to the group's information, overcrowded by 50%(200 students over). It certainlly opened my skeptical eyes and those of my wfie.
I guess the town is experiencing tons of moisture problems with the existing site. They have managed to find a buyer for the school if the new one is built. I guess the cost of the new school went up almost 2 million from last year and the school size was shrunk down slightly. Apparently these costs increases are expected to continue as the student population increases. I read the HLN and some people in town have been giving out misleading information (from what I was handed) in some sort of attempt to stop the project (or drive up costs?).
My grandchildren will be attending GMS and I'm kind of ashamed that we're putting them into place. I've spent almost 40 years in industrial development and can vouce for the fact that this place is not saveable. Good luck to the developers!

If your talking about the building on Rt 3a thats ashame. I attended that school starting in 1961.
However,I FIND THE ATTITUDE OF REPLACE IT NOT REPAIR IT COULD BE IN HASTE. THAT SCHOOL HAS ALOT OF GREAT MEMORIES FOR MANY IN LITCHFIELD.
WE ALL NEW ONE DAY PEOPLE FROM AWAY WOULD TAKE OVER THE TOWN. I GUESS THEY HAVE. SADLY, J C L
