I vote bring them into the city. Why should they sit out there living the good life while we suffer?

maybe some don't know, but lake owners now pay lease fees yearly, has anyone made public what this total figure is, and how does it compare to what the city THINKS it will get from the county in tax
revenue . lease fees go directly to the LAKE now,but can the city collect these fees if they annex and getproperty tax rev too?????? maybe someone should clear this up for us ,WANNA BET THEY DON"T??????????

I don't know how much we get from lease fees but we will still get those even after we annex them.
We should investigate annexing everything in a 12
mile radius. With extra tax revenue we could pay an engineering firm to survey our sewer system and tell us what needs to be done & give us an educated guess on how much money it will cost. After paying surveying fees we won't have any left to fix the sewers but at least we would have that information to pass on to our kids.
Isn't it about time to hire a consultant to tell us where to put stop signs. I still stop at State & Columbia [Catholic Church] because I can.

Lake people have been putting ads in the local papers warning us town dwellers [yes,we are bottom feeders in their eyes] about all the extra money it will cost us if we annex them. For the record, I list the following:
A. you will not get sewers, use our lake for your sewers
B. we will add no additional police or patrols
C. we will hire no additional firemen. If there is not a fire in town at the time,we will send what we can to assist you.
D. after annexed you will have free library card
E. you will be allowed to shop downtown, no charge
F. you will be allowed to run for city office and if elected you will be forced to serve us.

Can I change my vote to really don't care. All I really want is to be left alone and not petered by the city. I meant pesturd by the city. Just provide me with the services my tax dollars pay for and I'm a happy camper. If I could afford to live at the lake do you think I would float in this turdbowl. If anyone wants a piece of me I'm easy to find. I have the big sign in my front yard
"Keep the HELL off my Ass" [I mean grass]
God bless you each and everyone.
Love, Eddie

the ground ,they build 5oo,ooo dollar homes on a pease of land and get a 100 year lease xmany dollars per year, I know their rich and smarter than i'll ever be but, now, who's trying to screw who.looks like the city is trying to break a 100
yr lease after suckering people into a false security blanket. would i build a home under those beleifs and then get led down the rosey path, like i said who's trying to screw who??? can't rmember when we didn't pay taxs but, piling it on and smiling is a little much. have a good week fellas ,me and mama are off on a little road trip.

You're right Vet, but they have just about convinced me that they are right. Do we really want them in our city?
They know we are stupid and believe everything they say in the ads about not wanting us locals to pay for their sewer upgrades. Like I stated before, let them use the lake for a sewer. I don't mind seeing a turd or two floating in my coffee if it keeps the lake folk happy.

Grandpa caught a local boy srealing a watermellon and fetched his whip. Not the whip massa, anything but the whip. Marry my daughter!! The whip massa, the whip!

Yeah X ace, Our little town will now have some class and refinement. The average income per household in the city just went from $15,000 to $200,000.
Will we now get invited to the lake parties, bbq's and swim parties or will we still just get invited to the clean-up the lake party.
In the Journal yesterday, Ritchie was quoted as saying we don't have to do sh!t for the lake people as far as sidewalks, sewers or extra services. He stated each residence owner will have the option of annexing or not. However if they choose not to be annexed they could lose any city amenities [ water ] that they now receive. The same club they used to annex East Rt 16.

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Aries

Someone is being very informative and helpful, especially if you want them to explain something that you don't understand, so listen carefully to what they tell you. This is also a great day for making some travel plans, perhaps by arranging to visit a friend you haven't seen in a while or by discussing where you should take your next holiday.
