Good question, that would be one for the pension board and the Bank & Trust to answer. I keep a lot of the papers from years back with the Council news. What gets printed, and we know you have to go it it confirmed or be at the meeting or also get the Hillsboro paper to compare, the Mayor sits on the pension board. Guess he would be one to start with but we all know that's not worth the time. Blue box had a ggod one with the past Chief. He could have said something while here to make it like his from where he lived. But he must of forgot all about it when it was time to go home on the weekends.

its silly to think, just because the mayor was a
" book keeper" by trade,he would be on the pension board and NOT have a clue about what went on for all these yrs. BUT, Chamber Of Commerse and a poor feeble old lady come to mind, hummmmm, thre goes them dam silent alarms again.

In the past there alway's seemd to power in numbers. I plan on being in City Hall on the 13th, and it should be such a crowd that they move this meeting to the Collage or the High school. All in all what will happen is the four will go ofr it the others will not and the Mayor will vote to raise the tax. I will remeber this come election day. The 13th may be some's Pearl Harbor.
Since Cailey and Law are involved is this not double dipping? How many of us get to vote on are retierment fund to save it, with everyon else money.
..

There is not power in numbers as far as council meetings. They aren't going to care who is there or how many. They will vote the way they were told to. They have already been elected! As for the next election...how do you think Obama got re-elected, how did Blago get 2 terms, and our current Gadfly.....all politics is local and they are already "elected" and in and will do what they want. Many will vote the way they are told as well. Until you unite as one, with "one"agenda and stick to it, it will never change. The bloggers here have great ideas, but until they have only one agenda, it ain't gonna happen.

I don't know if I'll make it Thursday or not due to a nagging health problem. I expect a big turnout nonetheless.

I sincerely hope bluebox's threat is real and he turns lawyers loose on this town. There is some serious mismanagement (accidental) or very serious fraud taking place. Someone knows something.

Maybe Alderman Hancock will pop in and explain to me how 4-3=tie. "The aldermen would vote 4-3 in favor of the levy, with Alderwoman Marilyn Sisson absent. According to city hall, ordinances must have five votes to pass, and with Sisson absent, Mayor Tom Jones cast the deciding yes vote on what was essentially a 4-4 tie."
Considering this was for what...pension funding...a pension at least one alderman will draw from? Conflict of interest? Never.

There are 2 elections left. The one in the spring for mayor and half a council. I will vote (Go Hammer!).
The 2nd election comes after the results are tallied...and I'll vote with my feet.
Based on how the Nov. election went (Rosenthal, Manar, etc.)...my feet may have the final say.

By the way, noticed some more For Sale signs growing in yards and even saw a U-haul backed up to a door. Seems I may not be the only one who votes with feet.

C L you may be right, but I still belive that good will out do the bad. I do not think Mr. Cailey & Mr. Law should be allowed to vote on this. Mr. Street and Mr. Hollo will do what they are told. With the Federal Goverment, State Goverment looking for more money, jobs at a low, NO NEW JOB's come n in to the City (No pay back on the 10% raise for the job getter) you would just think that no one will have any money to do anything. So Woody no money to upgrade lights and stuff, so that would effect your job? So Mr. Hollo no money to do any fix'n ups around town guess that would not effect your business? Need to hink this one out before you just expect those of us that are left to bail you guys out. Good businessman you are not. You can not see the future cause your heads are in the clouds thinking it will be allright. Well it's not and now the School District will soon be wanting a increase and we all know they get over 50% of the tax money now. You have to cut, put them back as EMS people where they were and make the REASON for the increase go away.

I take that the two that called you back are on the side of the people. I guess the City will be rock n Thursday night. I wonder how may of the Police and Fireman will have the wives with them at the meeting? Good to see the teachers out today letting us all know we can get ready for the request in taxes. Heard on the WSMI news that the County will be asking for an increase. Sounds like a hat trick. I thought the NHL was on a lock out. Must be moving it all to Illinois.

WOW, just got my paper off the front step. Can it be true, why yes it has to be or they could not print it. But wait, why would the little miss 10% be doing the pree rellease? Would that not be the JOB of the City Admin ad his office? More miss management. Maybe one should do what a good investor would do. FOLLOW THE MONEY. Yes State did changes, over ten years ago. Question to the hires up, why did you not follow the rules when they changed? why are you now just seeing this? and last who did you invest with and why did THEY not tell you about the ruel change, oop's I have one more question, the person who was doing the investments did they get paid no matter what? If so they are not worth a dam. But he/she/they got paid. So yep it's miss management.

Reading the headline in the paper it says "Litchfield mayor vows to hold line on property taxes",that struck me as being untrue after reading the article. If the mayor were to hold the line, wouldn't he be holding the line that he voted for last Tuesday? The headline should have read "Litchfield mayor folds under pressure from angry taxpayers".
But beware, the untruths do not stop in just the headline. The true mess that we are in will not be
exposed by this administration until after the election. That is unless you attend the meeting Thursday in masses. I will expose more of the truth Thursday night as I did last Tuesday. This problem is not going to magically disappear because mayor said so. The fixes they are talking about are NOT fixes, they are band-aids. There are easy solutions to the problems, some of which have been touched on by people in this forum (CPO). Do not stand down Thursday night, show up,and be enlightened to what has really transpired to cause this problem. Show up to understand what steps must be taken to truly fix this problem....once and for all.

Did we just see the mayor launch his election campaign?

I'm with Tim here, if he was so against it why did he vote for it. His John Kerry moment?

I would like to know why the pension boards have not taken advantage of any of the additional investment options available to them since 1998 when they were allowed to put a proportion of their funds into mutual funds. Instead they are stuck in govt securities yielding about 1%. Is it because they know the taxpayer has to pick up the difference. The pension boards tell bank and trust where to invest.

put the names of the PENSION BOARD on this forum ,when you see who is who more than the truth will be seen, the problem for yrs has been peoples fear of naming names and standing up for THEIR right to hold the " honest theives" acountable.

the City Council will use the passing of their fire chief as an excuse to either cancil the meeting or make some lame excuse as to why this tax thing is a mute issue ,its called COVER YOUR ASS for now till we can sneak in and cover up the real problem. looks like as Ms Rice was so shall our 10%er gets thrown under the fire truck instead of the bus. LMAO
