but you don't understand, anexinn the lake will bring in enough tax money to pay these bills, remember Andy said "they must pay their fair share"
hummmmmm, isn't it funny ,the tax rate is jus under the rate to allow the taxpayers a VOTE. ONCE AGAIN THE 4 4 majority and ole Landslide will raise your taxs and no one will say a word.

We get screwed twice on our property taxes. First they value our homes way more than we could sell them for and then the city and schools up their shares and we don't even get to vote on the increase.
I see that we're still having problems at the water shed. Break out another million.
I thought Andy was going to help with the city's engineering problems. What a load of dung!!

Very true statements Ed. Funny how the water plant went from $6 million to what...$15 million or more? Who is going to be getting the water from the old Resy/Litchfield lake (next to the landfill)?

As for property taxes, I feel it is only going to get worse. You might want to check who doesn't get annexed and check the property taxes of "significant" others. I plan on renting, just to be able to take care of my family.

If you did not have an admin and had a strong mayorial governing body, you might be able to vote by referendum on some of these issues. But you don't. The real rulers of Litchfield do not show up at council meetings, write editorials, nor do they post on blogs. "They" run the city. Best of Luck to everyone and I wish something GOOD comes of this.

Would really like to know if our city has done a thourgh analysis of every piece of spending. To see if it is essential and if it is delivering value.

Example

We spend 100k plus on economic development . Has anyone done an analysis to see if there is a return on that

We spend a similar sum on tourism again is it working?

We have zoning and code enforcement as two separate jobs, does it really take two people.

Why do we have a separate police and fire chief, why not one to cover both

Do we really need to be collecting trash at the annual clean ups?

Seems our city thinks its much bigger than it is, we are only 6800 people seems we have enough staff for a town twice the size

I would like to see our aldermen require an analysis and public presentation by every department head showing what they spend and what they get accomplished.

Let's evaluate everything this city spends money on and see if it is truely necessary

It's too easy to spend money

I don't think 4 Aldermen and the mayor care about the tax payer. Let alone have a audit to see they need to cut back after all they can spend our money. That is how they keep their kingdom running.

In the past there alway's seemd to power in numbers. I plan on being in City Hall on the 13th, and it should be such a crowd that they move this meeting to the Collage or the High school. All in all what will happen is the four will go ofr it the others will not and the Mayor will vote to raise the tax. I will remeber this come election day. The 13th may be some's Pearl Harbor.
Since Cailey and Law are involved is this not double dipping? How many of us get to vote on are retierment fund to save it, with everyon else money.

HMMM, got to thinking this weekend about this tax hike. If this do pass, the City will not see the money for a year or two. It will not appear in the bank account till the next collection right? So the reason for the hike is still here. In business when you can not cover the cost of a problem you get rid of the problem. You can not ask your customers (tax payers) to cover it in one big fix, cause you would price your self out of business. Need to cut back and regroup with another option and not rasie the price.

Two of tem will vote on it to save the fund they are or will relie on. The other wo well, one will not admit his golden boy past Chief lied and the other just is not that smart. Hey hows that statement past Chief Weber made some time back going for us now. In business you can not change a person's clasification with out paying for it. So when he got the City to agree to change the EMS staff to Firefighters up went the pension requirements. WOW some people can now say "I told you so" and they should. Now how about the extra money the City has lost by taking in the lake, ut has now extnded coverage of Police and Fire protection, street and other public works services. Could there be more taxes coming to cover all of the other service we keep extending as the City line goes farther in all directions. Was it worth it not to take head and hear from the people in the know why things were done in the past and set up the way they were. Hard to put it back and say "I was wrong" and "screwed up". No you Council folks who did this will blame others, but you can't. People in twon are seeing this for what it is, and what you have created. One big mess.
