Looking for a place to hunt Mule deer in the Standing Rock Indian Reservation. Does anyone know of anyone who would allow hunting on their land?

I'll be going there also this year, hopefully around mid November. This will be my first mule deer hunt and first time to visit Standing Rock Reservation. Any suggestions on where or how to hunt it?

Any feedback on how you did up there? I was thinking about going in 2010.

We went out there for the first time in 2009 for the non resident combo season. If you want to go out there as a non resident you can only hunt tribal lands, get a plat book and study it before you go. Unless you draw a state tag. If you are caught on non-tribal lands you could get a big tresspassing fine and they will take your lisences. There is plenty of land, but you have to do your homework before going out there. Get a plat book. We shot 2 nice antelope, 1 ok mule deer and a realy realy nice whitetail. We hope to get back there this year again. Good luck!

Thanks mtfuge1984!

Where did you get the plat book? From ND state or from the tribe?

Any chance you could send me your email at [email protected] so I can bounce some specifics off you?

If you are hunting on Indian ground, you will need to pick up the tribal lands map... you will want to pay attention closely as it can be difficult to follow. Going again this year. Great trip .. will be #6 in a row.

I have hunted the SR for some years now and, I can say from experience, the tribe has ruined the deer hunting. Too many tags are now issued... It's all about the money. The ranchers are not very pleased with the way they have squandered the resource.
