30 people. 30. 0.000109% of the population of the Twin Cities. The outrage in the Twin Cities has never been so high.

This was no accident. This guy was involved in a road rage incident and he took it too far.

Nothing more, nothing less. It is what it is.

30 people...

For the people questioning as to whether or not Koua should have been able to stop his car, let me tell you what happened to a retired special forces cop. He was on vacation with his family in Calif, rented a toyota that suddenly started accelerating on its own. He tried stopping it by doing numerous things and nothing worked. He called 911 and told them what was happening and all the things he tried and they tried helping him and NOTHING worked. He knew they were all going to die in that car so he took an exit that wasn't finished and crashed, killing him and his entire family. He told the 911 operator to tell his parents that he loved them. Now... you still think it's easy to stop an out of control toyota? his car got up to 120 mph. Koua was on an exit ramp and had only SECONDS to react.

Sadly, people are using this situation as a backdrop to voice their misguided views on immigration, class, corporations and race and the PP eagerly serves as the platform.

This story smells like activism to me!

I read that story and it was a floor mat that wedged the accelerator, which previous people had complained about to the dealership and the dealership ignored. That's not Toyota's fault, if anything it was the fault of the dealership. Koua has a 1996 Camry. The recall is for 2007-2010 Camry's. Hmmm, not a recalled car - NO REASON FOR A NEW TRIAL. Toyota sold a half million of those cars in the US. The NHTSA has logged all of 2 dozen complaints about acceleration in those cars and I'd be willing to bet you can find that many acceleration complaints on any car. He had his day in court, he lost, GET OVER IT.

Just send Koua home to his family already!!! Justice is NOT being served having him sit in jail. There are way worse that I'd rather have my tax dollar used for.

They guy is simply asking for a new trial given that there are new facts that were not previously available to be considered.

One example: the burnt brake light filament. Lee's expert says that it indicated that the brakes were engaged. Of course the Gaertner and the County's hired experts dispute it's relevance and the meaning of the burned filament...but that EXACTLY is why it should be considered by a jury.

Unless, of course, Gaertner thinks that she is qualified to substitute her opinions for that of a jury!

You are dumb if you really believe that. You think this attorney is willing to represent him for free if he doesn't think he is going to win? You wait and see what evidence he shows, until then, you dont know enough about any of this because all of the evidence has not been made public yet.

So I suppose it's the gas pedal that toyota has been replacing that was the problem all along? then how come the ones they've replaced are still doing the sudden acceleration? And how come Prof Gilbert at Southern Illinois University discovered the electronics part that causes the unintended sudden acceleration? Not that his findings have anything to do with Koua's car but Toyota frequently has problems without recalls and without telling the public. That is nothing new.

I would not feel any differently if it were my family 6 feet under. And for your information, the famiy of the victims that died WANT Koua to be free because they are aware of some of the new evidence as well.

Why don't you try reading the article from associated press interviewing Professor Tim Gilbert from Southern Illinois University, then tell me it's a gas pedal problem. Toyota is not to be trusted. The lexus stalling problem they knew about for 2 years.

Read car and driver's report on stopping a car under full throttle conditions. On EVERY car tested the brakes easily overcame the engine to stop the car. High performance cars included. Wake up! They are designed that way. Try your own car if you can't read.
Driver error.
Next case!
