Come again? Looks like you're pretty linguistically challenged, yourself, buck-buck.

Here's what you said:
Spanish and Ebonics should be banned in the USA. Our country is a former British colony, and was formed by English speaking, Christians. If that is too much for some to accept....well, don't come here or, if you are already here. get out.
So, yes - you *did* say to ban select languages.

You also *didn't* say anything about English being the one and only official language, you just mentioned that the country was founded by English speakers. Not the same. If I said "the founders of this country had slaves", that would not be same thing as saying "slaves should be legal", now would it?

Learn to speak English *before* you go ranting on about those nasty immigrants who won't assimilate. They probably speak the language better than you, from the looks of it.

By golly, I guess I did say ban certain languages. I stand corrected. As for the rest of you semantic hair-splitting, I have an English word that will very accurately serve: Douchebag.

Robert H. Scarlett: "The King's English" has always been used in the US as well as the UK to mean "strictly correct English" regardless of the particular national idiom. When baseball announcer Dizzy Dean came under fire for using rural colloquialisms and words like "ain't" in his commentary -- "doesn't he know the King's English?" -- he replied "Ole Diz knows the King's English, and he also knows the Queen is English!" Insisting that "King's English" refers only to British English is nitpicking.

Semantics is an important part of language - gotta know what them words mean. Go take an ESL class, I think it'll really help you out.

Please, at least make an attempt to obtain information from a credible source. The one you printed is anything but.

Lee the same could be said of the NRA. And the Pioneer press leaning left? No way the Star is considered our Lefty which I lean to sir.

If immigrants do not want to assimilate to AMERICAN culture, they should stay where they are. Also, unless they obey our laws and come here legally and through the proper channels, they should be treated as criminals and deported for good. The word "immigrant" has an entirely different meaning to day than it did at Ellis Island. Also, if you are one of those anti-American, Somalians that are trashing Minnesota and demanding what you think America "owes" you...then go back home, worship the Devil and hijack passing ships. We have no use for you.
Excuse me, but you said Spanish should be banned. You explicitly stated that.

1 Bitch-slapping immigrants to learn English is pointless because it is a self-correcting problem: first generation immigrants (like my grandparents and probably yours too) may not learn English but their children take to it like a duck to water.

2. If you don't accept that and insist on making English our official language, why not go all the way and require everyone--including those born here--to speak and write correct and proper American English, with penalties for non-compliance. That, of course, would make criminals out of a significant proportion of USA-born folks on this forum, but we just can't have that, can we?

I think that's a great idea! We can go back to having literacy tests for voters and public office holders and clean out the rest of you.

Apparently Todd never heard Franken or Ed Schultz on the radio. Wait, very few did hear Franken and not many are aware of Ed now. (Ed shot and killed his dog by the way).
