Remarkable young lady! What a wonderful human being whose family (and herself) can be very proud of. I hope she can reach her goals and from what she has already achieved, it's almost a sure bet. BTW, it is amazing to me that she has reached such a maturity level at this young age and has her responsibilty priorities straight (ahead of many who are decades older). Have a marvelous life and go for it all, Kelly!

This would be a good article if they would have given it to someone that truly deserved it. I love how there is a lot of "fluff" in this story. I am just curious to know how many calls this person actually ran with her department. There are many other fire fighters and ambulance people that actually deserve the title of hero but they never get it.

It's not just about the number of calls a volunteer runs. What about all the "behind the scenes" time and all fundraisers and the time spend for the good of the company. Just because a person is not a top-responder dosn't mean he or she makes less of a difference.***If you re-read this article, you will see that it relates to health care in general, not being a "hero" as in a firefighter. This young lady has volunteered with many other worthy causes besides the fire department, which Im sure "I can say what I want"-- You are a member of.***

AND... you should be sastified with her getting the award, its good PR for the company to be mentioned in the article... since you care so much about how many calls someone runs...
Answer to that

Say what you want, but go back and read the story. It says "student or youth" award. I didn't read any 'fluff' in this story, just a story about a young girl and all her hard work.

As far as I'm concerned, fire fighters and EMTs ARE all heroes!
This is just sad

It is a good article, and there is no fluff, notice how its the health care hero award not the most calls for a department award, this isnt just about her department its about all the community service hours she did for various health care organizations, if she wouldent have got the award and some other teen did would you ask how many calls they ran or if they were even a volunteer. its just sad that you have to criticize some one elses achievements to feel better about yourself. get a life

Daily Horoscope for December 15

Taurus

Are you in listening mode today? Let's hope so because someone wants to bend your ear and they're hoping that you can spare the time and energy for them. Although your first instincts may tell you to give them plenty of advice, try to stop yourself volunteering it unless it's asked for. Even then, you may get the sense that you're really being asked to listen, not talk.
