I think this is a shame, the whole thing, really upsetting.

WHY did they have to blatantly kill this fine creature..

and the idea of an 11 year old boy posing with his pistol over his 'catch' WRONG!

and sending very negative, even dangerous messages to a lad so young..

In my opinion...

I would NEVER kill .. let alone feel proud to kill ... ANY living creature...

SO... does that give folks the freedom to taunt it, chase it, cut it, frighten it, and kill it?

To me, as a vegetarian, this is a BLOODY DISGRACE any way you look at it. Excuse my explicit language, but this needless cruelty makes me so angry.

Consider this, if you saw a group of youngsters attacking a dog cruelly, would the TV media come to interview them with pride? I would think not.. Why then be selective? How can the father of this eleven year old be proud of what his son did?

If it were my son, I would hang my head in shame:

I always taught my sons to have respect and care and sympathy for the other
animals we are lucky enought to share this planet with...

''Hogzilla originally was thought to weigh 1,000 pounds and measure 12 feet long. National Geographic experts who unearthed its remains believe the animal actually weighed about 800 pounds and was 8 feet long.
Regardless of the comparison, Jamison is reveling in the attention over his pig.
"It feels really good," Jamison said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "It's a good accomplishment. I probably won't ever kill anything else that big."
Jamison, who killed his first deer at age 5, was hunting with father Mike Stone and two guides in east Alabama on May 3 when he bagged Monster Pig. He said he shot the huge animal eight times with a .50-caliber revolver and chased it for three hours through hilly woods before finishing it off with a point-blank shot.''

The above is a extract from the news item.

A crying shame.

So tell me???

WHO asked anyone to chase it ...run it breathless for hours .... torture it ... taunt it .... scare it half to death ....
worry it .... badger it .... taunt it .... injure it .... riddle it with bullets .... cause it intense pain AND when they had their MAXIMUM amount of FUN (??) kill it..

Then the media queue up to congratulate the amazing 'clever little boy'(?????) and his 'brave father' for doing such a wonderful day's work....

so ....

Who is displaying the 'animal' behaviour here?

You're really projecting there but I agree the kid was a piss poor shot and the whole escapade would embarrass any self respecting hunter. Aside from that the issue was you haughtily claiming you never kill living things. Which is silly.

Well I don't !
If you want to be awkward and suggest things like.."when you are driving, don't flies etc run against your windscreen' and suchlike, that's a different issue.

I have never 'wilfully' set out to follow, track or be cruel let alone kill ... another living creature, and its not about being haughty, as you suggested... rather ...
it is about ordinary caring and empathy for those creatures we share the planet with here, the little ones and the larger. and what is more I DON'T
deserve any credit for showing them kindness .. It is as I and others SHOULD do. No more than that.

If you find blatantly and please note the word 'blatant' in a pre-meditated way..... torturing a live animal in the extreme and then killing it ... for kicks. funny.. The ''humour'' or in it evades me entirely....

What cannot you understand about anyone finding it distasteful to kill a wild creature in this inhumane manner. You admit it was carried out badly, but that does not stop the boy and his father from seeking media attention for their "efforts".
And further, no need to be offensive to anybody posting their own opinions on this matter, we are all entitled to do so without critism, reserve your critism for the morons who carried out such cruel
practices.

Grace, you are right. No animal should be tortured..It is NOT funny that the boy proudly stands with a gun after shooting that animal. Whoever gave that boy the gun to shoot that animal, is just as guilty.
