How do you expect the meat to taste on an animal that has been wounded with up to nine bullets in it and chased for three hours(obviously to exhaustion and near death if the "final" bullet was "point-blank"?
What about teaching some SPORTMANSHIP to the young hunters coming up?
What ever happened to the term "clean kill" as the FIRST rule of hunting taught?

I find this article and the behavior of the ADULTS accompanying this young boy DESPICABLE!!!!

You obviously have never hunted wild Boar. How would you like to have a 1/2 ton of wounded wild animal chasing you. It is kill or be killed.

A long and necessary human tradition of hunting animals for food is simply part of our natural heritage. We are ominvorous--notice the human tooth structure made for processing a variety of foods, including meat. There are a few tribes of indigenous people who dine almost exclusively on meat.
Wolves, wild dogs, lions, and other carnivores chase their prey to exhaustion and rather than having the opportunity to kill with a faster method (such as a bullet) must strangle, smother, or rip their prey until it bleeds to death. There is nothing pleasant about killing other animals for food. Except that you get a meal and survive another day.
In modern society, the majority of people who continue to eat meat are completely divorced from the process of killing the animals who provide it. If you think the actions of this child are barbaric, take a look at where your food comes from. How animals are raised and killed for your consumption. What happens before you pick up a sanitary, plastic-wrapped chunk of yummy beef steak for your next barbeque? And if you are a vegetarian, and you do not participate in the killing of animals for food, then maybe you should feel proud of yourself. I do eat meat. I was raised from childhood eating it. I say a prayer for the animal who died so that I might live. Does that help? Maybe it doesn't really help the animal, but it makes me feel a little better about it. There needs to be some respect shown for all that is gained and lost.

The boy is a local hero and deserves his newfound status. His was quite an acomplishment and I'm very happy for him. You, on the other hand, don't need to pick on this wonderfully capable and independent child. You are a bully and a sour pus. I hope a wild pig comes along and eats your sissy little cat. You hateful child abuser, pinko, twit!

Wasn't a fair fight. The hog should have had a gun and been able to shoot back. Better yet, get rid of all the guns, except for military and police. This country is durn gun-crazy!

Are you wishing a choking death on a human being? An 11 year old Christian child? What kind of sicko are you anyway? You need to get down on your knees and pray for forgiveness. So much hatred in your heart has affected your compassion for fellow human beings. Animals were put on this earth to eat and enjoy. I'm going to order sausage and eggs for breakfast every day for the rest of the year. Put the butcher shops on overtime. It's time to celebrate Jamison's victory with a pig roast! You can eat crow!

You said it. What would have been great if the poor animal had defended itself. How barbaric, the animals are the hunters.

A large hog was killed in halifax county,N.C around 15 years ago this hog escaped when a tractor trailer overturned years prior.this hog went ferrel eating crops to the point rewards were offered for kill or capture,a hunter walked up on the hog while it was sleeping and killed it,it had to be taken to roanoke rapids where it was weighed on an old cotton scale and pictures took(probably on file at the local paper there) nothing else could they find that would weight that monster,it grew tusk as it escaped when it was a small pig.my uncle(now deceased has a picture,I guess his wife,my aunt still has the picture) the hog to the best of my memory weighed 887 pounds and was a hampshire hog.once a domestic hog get's out and stays out(taste of freedom)it's almost impossible to pen up anymore,if the hog starts grunting, running after being shot, you need to remove the testicles as soon as possible and even then it's only good for sausage.I have shot ferrel hogs tried to keep it to 100 pounds or less and guilt's not boar's.
