BULL$H!T...you are so freakin stupid man! I have had 4 Pits (all rescued animals) and NEVER once have they bitten one single time. You ingorant you should be shot!
I have an albino pittbull that is completely def, I was scared to keep him, but my roomate left him and never came back. He is one the sweetest most gentle animals I have ever had in my life. He doesnt even growl at strangers and like a previous poster mentioned, would seriously lick someone to death before he bit them.

I have been bitten by several dogs. A chow/sharpe mix took a chunk out of my leg, a miniature pincher attacked me, and I was bitten by a couple small dogs. I owned 2 pit mixes but got rid of them when they started making the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I LOVE dogs but there are some dogs that are just evil. In any breed of dog there are some that are just wired the wrong way. I now own a lab mixed with I think chow and I know that if I don't get her into some obedient classes she will be a problem. She is soooo sweet but she has so much energy that she doesn't know what to do with it. And she is also extremely jealous over me and my boyfriend. But the point is, every dog has the potential to bite/kill. But I once heard that a pit bulls brain never stops growing even when their skull does. Which in turn eventually drives them insane. Whether that's true or not I don't know but I think the important thing is to always be aware no matter what type of dog it is.

classic example of someone taking some moron's word for truth. I guess it is true stupidity is the most contagious disease there is. Funny how your pits never attacked you. Sounds like 1 you didn't know how to train them 2 you let old wives tales and rumors influence your decision and 3 you didn't do your own research. All of this pit bull mania puts me in the mind of the racism of the early 20th century when they said black people were to child like to have civil rights or when native Americans were called savages. Same thing happened there when people claimed it was in there blood to be that way. People please before you get on here and post make sure what you say is an educated statement not some half cocked ignorant statement. Stop spreading ignorance people.

Apparently you can't read pal. I plainly stated that it was something someone told me and I DIDN'T know if it were true or not. And no, my pits never attacked me. Obviously, because I would of said they had. They were about a year old when I got rid of them. And because I've been bitten by several different dogs if I get a funny feeling about my dog or I start to be scared when they are around then they gotta go. That's just how it is. I'm sensitive when it comes to dogs. And I also plainly stated that I don't believe that its any certain breed that is bad. My last statement was no matter the breed of dog always be aware. So before you start calling people ignorant maybe you should learn to read, and to comprehend what you've read. Just sayin'...

Well "pal" I read and comprehend very well, you on the other hand have shown your ignorance by your statement. Just so you know calling someone ignorant is not an insult. It means that you are not educated in the subject. Sorry you were ignorant about that. I have been around dogs for 30 years, 20 of which included rehabilitating abused dogs, only bitten once, which was my fault. So it makes me wonder what you have done to be bitten several times. How did yo get rid of them? Give them away? Send them to the pound? If you gave them away, have you checked to make sure they went to a good home. If they went to the pound then you have no idea what happened to them. So once again you let your ignorance of the breed and dogs in general affect your decision on two innocent animals. Now why would you get on here and make a statement on a subject that you openly admit you know nothing about. That is how rumors, myths and ignorance is spread. Just sayin' Pal

I was about 8 when bitten by the chow. He bit me, a 3year old, the Swains man, and my aunt. He was a vicious dog and I don't know what happened to make him that way. The other time I was attacked was because the owner of the dog shut his nose in the door and when he turned around he saw my legs and lunged. Can't really blame him. And the two pits I got rid of are the happy pets of a doctor with a big farm. I drove by a couple weeks ago and saw them. I said that no certain breed was bad. Some dogs from any breed (for whatever reason) are just mean. I had no idea that me telling my story about dogs and saying that you can't blame all pits bc a few are bad ones was going to have you verbally attack me. I'm sorry.

Returning what? Are you saying I deserved to be attacked by those dogs? I have never abused an animal of any kind. Believe it or not I do have a heart.

This is sad, also I had a family member that is 5 yrs old a pitbull bullied her while she was out side in her yeard, parents at home with her, the dog was lose and wanted the kitten, the dog jumped on her barked and scratched her and wanted the kitten the lil girl took the kitten and ran she balled up in her dads car with the kitten up against her stomach. The dog then got mad cause he couldnt reach what he was after and he mawed the car and tore the side of it up trying to get to the kitten. Then dad came out to seperate the dog away from the car and it bit and scratched him he tore the dog up all while the dog tore him up. Im not sure how bad things got. Its sad all the way around I wouldnt wish that fear on anyone. Although I must say these dogs along with rottweilers and a few other breeds are not given a fair chance and I must say the dogs are how they are trained to be. Yes they may have a high percentage on attacks but the percentage for improper training and handling of these dogs is even higher so its the same with any animal they all can have the potential to turn. It is how they are trained and treated, and because they have such high jaw power that is used against them, but look at the strength a horse has to pull and haul things yet they are ok, they could kill and hurt just as quick. There legs are like weapons and they too are wild until properly trained and are also known to be one owner animals. So yes it is terriable the man was hurt and the lil girl is know scared to death of dogs. However its up to the owners of all animals to do whats right TRAIN THESE ANIMALS RIGHT. I sure there will still be incidents but not nearly as much if people would train them right.

Different breeds are bred for different purposes. Hounds were bred to chase game and they are very good at it. Collies are bred to herd animals and they are very good at it. Retrievers are bred to fetch birds and are very good at it. Pit Bulls were bred to be fearless and aggressive and it's in their makeup. They are very good at it. You can defend them all you want but you can't deny their breeding.

I have a pit bull currently... and I am not here to defend the breed.. I have owned many breeds, types, and sizes of dogs..and pits are no different than any other dog. My pit is a good girl, she's smart, well mannered, and good with kids and other animals. She's has had very good training though. That's what any dog needs. A good leader. Not to be spoiled and treated like a human. Pit bulls are soo stubborn (mine is at least) and my dog would gladly take the lead role in my house if i allowed it.. So keep in mind all dogs need rules, and boundaries. And they need to be corrected as soon as you see them cross that boundary. I never liked pits until I owned one myself. And shes changed my mind. Dogs are like kids, noone loves them like their mommies and daddies do. In all honesty, I think only an experienced dog owner should own a pit.. BC they need a lot of attention. Or else you will have an unstable dog... And that's when pits go bad.. People that don't know what the hell they are doing.

If a dog bites and kills it's the dogs fault not the humans handling it, if a gun shoots and kills it's the guns fault not the humans handling it. Any dog can bite and kill a person as well as most other animals, it's not that the dog or breed is bad it's how that animal has been treated.

I have a pit bull that I have had since he was 4 weeks old, they are very smart dogs. Yes they are a big, strong and hyper breed, but just like with any other breed of dog or most other animals for that matter will act the way they are treated. I also have 2 small children that I let around our pit bull, he is like a big baby very loving, kind and playful with myself, my husband, our children, other people and even other animals. I truly believe it's all in how they are treated.
