That is horrible... Where were the parents of these boys? I hope the parents realize how much they lost by NOT being responsible..

To r u nutz......It doesn't matter how responsible or how irresponsible you are... it can happen to ANYBODY! Do not judge till you have been there. I HAVE BEEN THERE!

I hope the parent's are arrested for child neglect and endangerment. Kid's that age should NOT HAVE BEEN ALLOWED NEAR THAT RIVER unsupervised.

There is no excuse for those children's death...absolutely total neglect.

Kids will be kids and they will get into anything. I remember being a kid and walking out on the ice of the stoney river in MD. Dont blame the parents for this one. (They should have been inside playing video games, not out side exploring the world.) As a parent I am truely sorry for the loss.

First off, YES it does matter how responsible the parents are.. I am a parent to 3, and make it a point to know where my kids are at.. Remember that old commercial "It's 10 pm, do you know where your kids are", well that's what a parent's responsibility is.. I'm not judging, I simply asked where the parents were at.. BIG difference!

Don't blame the parents???

That's a joke...right?

What in the he!! is a 7 yr old doing running around with a 9 yr old "a few blocks" from his home.

This is tragic, but COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED with even a little supervision.

Sad and tragic do not outweigh or override irresponsible and neglectful.

A responsible parent KNOWS his/her kid/kid's are not near a river unsupervised. PERIOD. I swear we should give an IQ test before we allow a child to be in a home with some of these so called parent's.

Only an idiot would not understand children that age need to be supervised.

Look. Do you or did you ever have a babysitter? Because the lady who lost two of the children (the third being somebody elses child) was at work. A neighbor was watching the kids for her.. so don't blame this on the mother. I seen her reaction at the scene and it made my heart wrench. I've never witnessed something like that in real life!

Way to read the article guys. It def says the kids were being "watched" by a baby sitter.... sooooo how is it the parents fault?

Because as responsible parent, it's important to know who is watching your kids..

I would even go as far as to only use someone who has had a state background check/FBI check and is certified..

Obviously safety was not a concern in this situation, but more a concern for convenience..

I cannot even begin to wrap my brain around this horrific tragedy. There are no adequate words, there is no one to blame, only prayers.

i would think that mother was working a low-paying job and could not afford a "certified" sitter. if you have ever needed a sitter so you could work, you will know what they cost. for someone making 8. hr and paying 600 mo rent plus utilities, add it up..........

Did you not read the story???? The boys mother was at work and the children were left in the care of the babysitter. YOu cannot tell me that the mother was being irresponsible just because she was at work?!?!?!
