Okay, here is your chance. So many people have so much to say about our Village. If you were mayor, what would you do? Perhaps if you have the right ideas, someone would be willing to vote for you. Let's see what you got!

First I would make it a point for Doug and Shawn to treat people with respect and if they can't their gone! Listen, listen, listen to what the villagers want. Get grants to help revitalize this town, ice skating rink, open land. Volunteers to clean up town, fundraisers to buy playground equiptment at Keinele field. Cut backs do we really need to pay someone at the village to answer phones or can they press one tax dept, two for, etc. How many kids use the youth center is it worth keeping it open? Can we use the land for better use? Moms and toddler club? Start fixing potholes and water problems. How about getting rid of the village, I would address this and if Lindy would be better served for the village to consolidate with Babylon I would hold a vote.

Okay, now were talking. Okay, I would first fire the village attorney.(Nothing Personal) but why should we pay a Babtlon Attorney to act as our district attorney when tons of attorneys would do it for free just for the opporunity to add District attorney on thier resume. Second, I would form a committee of volunteers to stimulate the business economy, fill the stores, and offer business' incentives. Third, I would make it a matter of public record that when someone "Calls the Code Enforcement Dept" with a complaint that the person who the complaint is about would have a right to know who made the complaint (Enough with the vendettas) Fourth. I would actively be involved with the Board of Education on behalf of the Lindenhurst Homeowners. Fifth, I would increase as much as possible property taxes on Rentals.(They are a business and should be paying more)sixth. I would fire the youth center staff. I would instead organize between the PAL and local churches and even the scouting organizations who are all better qualified to work with children, besides, why are the youth center personell all smoking around the youth anyway.

To be continued.

7th, I would make Montauk Highway a 2 lane street like Babylon Village and revitalize the business district between Wellwood and South Broadway. 8th, I would stop this nonsence with "Special Pick up, making every Friday Bulk Day.9th, I would form a committee for homeowners who are in financial jeopardy. The committee would offer free counseling and access to info. 10th. I would hold community forums at least once per month.

Okay one thing I would do for sure is plant some more trees. Like Linden Trees. Gloria took all of them south of Montauk I have never seen them replaced.

The school officials should all be fired and new young idea's to get the school in full competition with the better schools. ITS NOT MORE MONEY, ITS THE PEOPLE!!! revamp the hole downtown business district with new nicer store fronts (make sure who ever is in charge know alittle about class and taste) we have tons of land that nobody cares about that could be used for many things. our own mini mall, skating and YES resturants, nice clubs and some stores. We are a town on the water. why dont we use it like other towns. ferries, water sports. CLEAN THE WATER!!!! get up some hotels. we need also to have our own axiliary police. Leave the youth center alone. it is all they have right now!!! the beautification people for lindenhurst i think needs to BE FIRED AND please move out of lindenhust for having absolutly NO TALENT WHATSOEVER!!

Beutification is run by volunteers, step up! Like the Ferry, but parking would be a major problem. Hotels where? Not realistic and a mayor cannot fire school district teachers. Ok first you would have to learn about govt to run. Some ideas are ok. Youth center isn't being used by teens and the workers are allowed to smoke on the premises. Store fronts are individualy owned and they can't tell them to revitalize them. What they can do is pass codes for type of business and the color and type of signs they can hang. That is why Babylon looks nice all business signs have to be approved.

Well you certainly took some great idea's and just knocked them down to the ground. sounds like you work for the govt and already seeing "parking" as a problem. I never said i knew all about govt but life experience say's if you like what another town is doing..then YES IT CAN BE DONE!! i do know alot of kids who use the youth center. my kids included. you may not like the people who run it but it is something NOW that is a good "go to place" for some kids. It is not uncommon for places by the water to have hotels. bring in some torist attatractions. it gives the town money, providing you have some attractions. Hotels would have to provide parking. the nicer the hotel the nicer the people. sorry you dont see it that way. i know you can not fire teachers (which I never understood) i am not an idiot but there should be some criteria as to who gets that privielge and gets tenier(?)what ever its called. and lastly just because you volunteer to do outdoor beautification doesnt mean you get to do what ever you want. someone had to ok the stuff in town that they planted. someone preferrably someone who knows the difference between plants and weeds.

It's about parenting and values! Unless these change there is no hope! Look at the youth of the towns across Long Island and it describes what kind of town you have. And yes, this also dictates what kind of schools one has. I am in Lndenhurst for 35 years and I have only witnessed it get worse.

1. I would eliminate property taxes. The village already gets money from the state so why do they charge property taxes? Oh I see to make people lose their homes. I think people are nuts to accept this. Can you name any country in the world where their government is in the business of selling their citizenry homes? Anyone? It's a racket.
2. Let there be rental property. The village can have alot of money from rental permits. They should grant everybodys permit based on approval from the village that it is safe.
And I must say I'm not saying let everyone be packing everyone in like sardines. It should be one apartment to one house and if you have the room so be it you can have more. When you have more money more people will open businesses.
3. As for the lindenhurst youth center the first time we went me and my child we were told by the asst director we couldn't stay there. And the Lindenhurst Youth Center is for children up to 21 years of age. They are disgusting the people who run that place. They have a nice little click there. I called up to complain Shawn Cullinane said it was private. We had some words. I called up the mayor and he said they are not there to babysit. The Lindenhurst youth Center is for kids up to 21 years of age I repeat.
4. Let businesses breathe free. People lives depend on it. I would do anything in my power to promote it.
5. Do a crackdown on drugs. Clear the place of drugs.

The youth center is a dodge to give the people who work there free family health insurance.

My kids were never allowed to hang there! I did give my older son a chance to make up his own mind. So I took him there. It was dirty, couches were ripped, dark and intimidating to children. The place was a hole! We walked out and he never asked again. Shocked 21 are u kidding, why doesn't this surprise me! Shawn is in a low class of his own..
