No, however this court system has on numerous occasions brought charges against parents/students for truancy under undue conditions. In Texas conditions for truancy are absences which are UNexcused. And I'll repeat that word, unexcused. This school system, along with the superintendent and ultimately the jp judge supports filing charges and extracting fines for EXcused absences. For the recored I will repeat that key word, excused.
According to the TEA this is unfounded and frankly illegal. Truancy obviously does not apply for excused with doctor/hospital notes.
There is alot of inappropriate behavior in the town, and it's behavior which could put individuals out of office and out of jobs if exposed.
If is not a consideration at this point.... when is more fitting.

well i know him personally and he is a fair man. I will say that the only way for him to know about such charges, the school resource officer has to file them with the court. so before you bash the judge, find out why, if at all, if the officer is filing bad charges. i doubt that is happening either since its pretty hard to file charges and continue to prosecute if the evidence says otherwise.
They may have children that are going to the doctor or hospital but if you arent notifying the school and letting them know, then tada, you will be shown absent by the school administration. its only then that the officer finds out and investigates further. then if charges are to be filed, they will go to the JP.
And Judge Cowart is well known here and as been reelected numerous years and is highly respected unlike other judges in the county or state. Work on the facts. I have no doubt that there are children getting unexcused absences for going to the doctor and not telling the school admin. Truancy charges however are filed on the students who are consistent about not wanting to go to school. Note, these are the same kids that are breaking in to your stuff at night and creating mischief across the city. These arent the good kids.
hang in there

i also know james, lindale is very fortunate to have had this very honest man looking out for the town and county's interest for many years!! if he wasn't such a honest man he would have been run out of town on a rail.now has he ever made mistakes of course as has all of us! but he has alway's had lindales best interest in his heart allway's has allway's will.some parents just refuse to beleive that there children can do no wrong. i went to school in lindale in the 60s and early 70s when the town was small with a fairly decent school system, did we cut class of course, did principal mickey mayne know when we were lying about being absent? of course did he spank our butts with old sparky yes and yes. so i'm pretty sure that the lindale school system and judicial system know what they are doing!! i bet there's more citizens with them than against them. James Cowart keep up the good work. tommy rinehart
