Rescued Lind puppy mill dogs still recovering

Volunteers for Adams County Pet Rescue and other shelters are continuing to nurse back to health some 100 dogs after they were removed from a suspected puppy mill two weeks ago.

Pet Rescue has to wait for the courts to release the dogs to them. Ms Provost has filed with the courts to get the dogs back. Hopefully she will be denied and they can be adopted sometime in August.

Ms Provost goes to court tomorrow (August 13th) to see if she can get her dogs back. Let's hope the court denies her request and these wonderful dogs can be adopted out!

I will post the decision as soon as I find out. Keep your finger crossed she doesnt get them back. That would be heartbreaking for all of the dedicated people who are caring for these beautiful dogs.

The court hearing is over. Ms Provost WILL NOT get any of the dogs back and they will now be available for adoption. Now these dogs can get a second chance as some happiness.

I am so glad that Provost did not get the dogs back. She had no business having those great dogs. It is obvious she did not care anything about these dogs. We volunteers tried to help them socialize with humans and it was heartbreaking when they would stay inside their dog houses and just shake whenever they heard humans. I personally think that the volunteers who came from all over the state of Washington to help with those dogs were fantastic people. I had never seen such an outpour of loving and caring as I did at this tragedy.

Has there been any news on the sentencing of Provost

I believe she goes to court tomorrow (August 19th) for her court hearing. When I hear anything, I will be sure to post it.

Does any body know how the sentencing of Provost went?

Her court date on Monday, August 18 in Superior Court was only for arraignment. Sentencing will be at a later date. Her petition to return her animals was, of course, denied by District Court, but now there is a waiting period to allow for appeal.

I was horrified to read this story yesterday. Thank you to everyone who volunteered to care for these dogs. You bless your community and the world. Thanks to the judge who refused this woman's petition. Let's all be vigilant in protecting animals from such horrible abuse.

Ms Provost had until 4:30 yesterday (August 20th) to appeal her denial to get her dogs back. She did not file an appeal. The dogs will be spayed and neutered before they will be placed up for adoption. Ms Provost goes back to court on September 15th for an omnibus hearing and pretrial hearing on the 29th of September & trial date set for Oct. 14th. She has 3 felon charges filed against her. She entered not guilty to 1st & 2nd degree animal cruelty charges & not guilty to 1 count of transporting or confining in an unsafe manner.

I wanted to clarify one thing on the Ms Provost appeal that I had posted a couple hours ago. She did file an appeal at the last minute but did not come up the the amount of money she needed so that she could go forward, therefore, the dogs are now available for adoption. Sorry for the confustion.

Thanks for updating this blog...the newspapers and tv media report on a story these days, then drop it for eternity, thanks to their short attention span. I have been waiting to hear if Sharon is gonna see her day in court, and so far, it appears the answer is yes. Good. She is clearly not well, so hopefully, she will get help in the process.

I just wanted to say that I've been fostering a couple of the Lind girls and they are great dogs. One has a litter of puppies, she is pretty fearful, but she tries really hard to overcome it and is very willing to learn. I think she will end up a great dog in the right home, where she will be challenged to continue giving more of herself and rewarded when she does. She's come a LONG way from when I got her a month ago. When I got her, I had to snare her to get my hands on her (very gently, but it was the only way to even get her out of a crate!) and she was very pregnant. When I touched her, she would just flip out at first (though she never tried to bite me, just flailed around). I would sit with her in my lap and hold her until she relaxed, then let her go. I've walked her and held her and fed her now and she will sit at the back of the puppy pen in my living room and let me slip the leash over her head. She will sit on a loose lead and let me pet her, though she still sinks down. She let me help her whelp the pups too. She's a good girl!

The other one is the one that I just really like - I am looking at keeping her. She is bright, wants very badly to be my friend, funny and cute. When she is out in our large yard she runs and bounces and grins at me.

These dogs are very rewarding and worth the work you put into them. They are smart and learn incredibly fast, in spite of the bad start in life. I've enjoyed my time as a Foster home.

So, as I understand...Sharon was supposed to begin with a jury trial on 10/14/2008...has anyone heard anything yet?

The Jury Trial has been continued. The new date is February 9, 2009. A Pre Trial hearing is set for December 29, 2008.
