Dave your place is okay. What other restaurants are so good? You will not find that in this town!! Fatz has the toughest steaks I have ever tasted. Lincoln House is fair it used to be very good when Chip had it. I will stay with you and Hannah's.

Well, thanks Benny. We're certainly happy to have you. Well, I'm a fan of Ginger's (Main Street Cafe). Barry out at Lincoln Seafood does a great job, and so do his family over at Maiden Seafood just a bit up old 321. I enjoy Sauza's and Taco & Tequila. Moose has some mighty fine pizza and I hear lots of his other food is great -- I haven't tried it just yet. I haven't made it to Hannah's since they moved to their new location, on you're recommendation -- I'll have to try it.

Unfortunately, I don't get the chance to get out and eat a whole lot at other places other than at breakfast.

I can't say I've tried a steak over at Fatz, but let me invite you to try one of the steaks here at L&L ... we use outstanding grades of only certified angus beef ... tender, juicy, and absolutely delicious. If you haven't tried the sandwiches and other items on our menu (in addition to all the usual favorites from cafeteria line), you owe it to yourself to check out our whole other side.

Take care Benny, and be sure to let me know who you are next time you're in L&L.

I do not eat off of salad bars!!!!! The Doctor told me that was the worst place you could dine. To many children, old ugly women and unclean people screwing with the food!!!! Flys and insects also find them a home. Dave, Lincolnton does not have "good strong restaurants" as you put it!!!!!

I've lived in Lincolnton all my life ... I've eaten at the House of Pizza many, many times ...

I like to eat good food, period. There are plenty of places that make good food and serve good food. I eat plenty of it here, and I eat at other places too. Variety is the spice of life.

Nope, what nerve would be hit?

Simply stating, I've been in Lincolnton for over 40 years. I've eaten at House of Pizza many, many times. It was a part of my regular lunch rotation when I was in my previous job. We went there once or twice every couple of weeks. I've always enjoyed the food and the folks there. I've also eaten at Zippers and just about everywhere else in Lincolnton. Some of the newer restaurants I haven't hit yet, mostly because my time is pretty limited -- particularly around meal times.

I think you have ok food Dave. I've been there three or four times and it's not ever been bad. The thing is, it isn't all that good either...just average and that isn't going to bring me in the door more than once every month or two. And the portions are on the small side. Who ever mentioned that was right on the money.

Thanks for the input Chris ... I just really don't understand where that comes from though. More often than not we have folks asking for takeout boxes because they can't finish the amount of food they've received.

I agree when we first opened, and for a while after that we had a lot of difficulty with some staff members being terribly inconsistent with their portioning. Haven't personally noticed that being much of a problem lately, and if it ever were, all it would take is a comment for us to get that remedied really quickly.

As to food quality, I don't get that either ... many of our strongest customers are from areas not in Lincolnton. Denver, Taylorsville, Cherryville, Hickory, and Dallas ... these folks drive to Lincolnton to eat at L&L. Construction workers from all over the country who were here working on the new WalMart came in often and would express shock that we weren't absolutely covered up with business -- said they'd eaten everywhere in town, and we had the best food they'd eaten. Granted, everyone is different, and everyone has different tastes, but these folks and many others go on and on about the quality of food.

But, you can't please everyone ...

I'm from Cherryville and I came there weekly. I would often see Mr. and Mrs. Lyles and the Davis' there. I suppose they both still come in. The reason I do not is because I saw the chef shove the plates away from the server who was trying to help us, and tell her that she was putting too damn much of the chicken that was on special on each order. There were three of us in my group and not one of us had even ordered the chicken as it looked dried out. The poor girl was in tears and I felt badly after watching the whole nasty mess. Now when we are in the mood for cafeteria style (once or twice each week), we either drive to Gastonia or Shelby to Jackson's. They do cafeteria right with plenty of choices and trays just running over with delicious food. I won't support a business who treats their help so horribly in public.

Martin,
I'm sorry to hear about your experience ... wish someone had shared that with me when you were in so that it could have been properly investigated and addressed. In any event, sorry to hear of your negative experience.

The term used there was "their help" almost close to "the help" ...I mean working in a resturant is like working anywhere else you wouldnt want your employers giving back TOO MUCH change would you?

Personaly, I would love a huge buffet...American Country Buffet in Lincolnton like Golden Corral or something. Ryans is close but we need the choice and I remember a place that use to be in the big lots building I think it was called Triple H or something?

Anyway, I dont look at L&L as a Cafteria Experience I look at it as a small town buffet with take out.

The purpose that L&L serves its perfect for Lincolnton and people who live here...I cant speak for anyone who travels to lincolnton for L&L. I wouldnt do that for any small town restraunt. Thats not a knock on L&L just my personal taste. I do however, have to travel for other resturants from the national chains but it feels worth it.

Kurt, who cooks at L & L used to be the cook at the Cherryville Country Club. That's the reason a good number of us followed him to Lincolnton ... trying to support someone we knew. I don't have a problem with the food. It is good, but I do have a problem with servers being put into tears in front of me and my family. We don't treat our employees like that and we won't support a business that does.

As for you Dave, you don't have anything to apoligize for. You always treated us well and I'm sorry to see you trying to defend something that wasn't your fault. You are a first class individual and I wish you, personally, good luck. I'm sorry to say, I think you're going to need it.

Wow you have not been to Lincolnton in a good while. Triple H has been long gone and Aunt Bessies moved in its place. My husband is so picky we don't go back there for they constantly get his order wrong. No excuse for me tho, I loved it last time we went to Aunt Bessies myself.
Still have to go try this place out though it sounds like great food. By the way, I will eat anywhere or anyone elses cooking so I don't have to do the dishes at home. Lol.

lol, hmmm, Mr. Andrews, you might need to record the happenings in the "Hells Kitchen." lol just joking for I hate that show on tv.
I sure would have had to say something out loud about that for I have been treated that way in the past where I use to work and it helps to speak up. An elderly man did it for me and it worked and the cook did not say another word to me all night. I made up my mind then, no one needs to be treated with lack of respect like that. As soon as I visit Mr. Andrews, you might meet your worse critic or you might meet a happy hungry camper. lol

The location under our names is based on where our internet is coming from or what server we are using. I live in Lincolnton but the location under my name often reflects many different places.

I am fully aware Triple H hasnt been there in forever hence my point. That was a small town resturant (I believe) that really provided a larger buffet experience.

My memory is however fuzzy on the location I was sure it was in the actual Big Lots part but whatever, I just know growing up my two favorite places to eat was Triple H and then The MayFlower when my family had to go out of town to shop...things havent changed much on that front.

Dear Friends,

On Sunday, June 5, L&L will close it's doors following lunch. As many of you know, our business has been down for several months -- things seemed to drop off around the holidays and just never really picked back up. Our lease payments and our other overhead costs demanded a more steady stream of business than we've been able to produce lately. We had hoped to buy more time by renegotiating our lease agreement, but our landlord chooses not to go that route.

Things are tough in this economy, and it's finally gotten the better of us.

We have been blessed with this experience. We've had the pleasure to work with some of the finest folks we've come across ... we especially want to share our gratitude with members of our current staff. We appreciate you and all of your efforts more than you could ever know.

Of course, we are so appreciative of the folks who walked through our doors, and allowed us to serve them. So many came on a regular basis -- you've become far more than just "customers" or "guests", you've become dear friends. We have looked forward to having you walk up to the doors, and honoring us with your presence and your support. It has been our extreme pleasure to serve you. Thank you.

We have known for sometime now that if things didn't change that we'd be unable to hold on. However, in the past week our landlord has unexpectedly expedited the process of moving us out -- no sense in delaying the inevitable I suppose. We regret that our opportunity to serve you is coming to a close -- sooner than we expected, and certainly sooner than we wanted. Again, thanks for the opportunity. God bless.

I hope nothing on this site reflected your response to close its doors.

If a reopen is possible I would vote somewhere closer to Boger City. It seems to be growing and is projected to grow with the hospital there.

Just as your friend Kym there about this area. Although, hidden now back in the old Sentry Drug would make good logical sense with the right sign and marketing/word of mouth and maybe a nudge from Beans, Burgers and Brew.

Having that type of Resturant in this part of town with Hospital traffic I am sure things would be better.

Btw Old AutoParts store = Bad Location Idea. Main reason is parking and my others.
