moving to Lincolnton

I have recently moved to the area and we are looking to buying a home in Lincolnton. I have children that are not yet in school but also a child that is in 7th grade. I have had people tell me that I shouldn't move to Licolnton because my daughter will not be able to make friends because kids are mean and not accepting of new comers. Is this true of the area?
The area is everything we want in a home and neighborhood, but I would hate to not have my daughter accepted at a school just because she didn't grow up there. Thank you in advance.:)

My husband and I have lived in Lincolnton for the last 7 years and while we had no children in the school system, we haven't been treated any differently.(Most people just ask, "where are you from?" Your child will continue to grow and become "someone from Lincolnton." I do understand the school system to be an excellent one.
