Based on my property type and size of house, I feel like I pay way too much in property taxes...The town re-assessed my house and property, and I feel like they over assessed the land and house by almost $90,000 to get more tax money...Does anyone else feel this way?

the cost of living in New Jersey is out of control! Think about it...you can rent an apartment in almost anytown for $1000 a month or less! They include heat, water , cooking gas and parking, some ebven electric! Homeowners pay $500 month at least for just taxes! most pay closer to the same $1000 just in property taxes! So if you add heat ($300 month) water ($50 -$100 month) cooking gas ($50) Sewer & Garbage (? maybe $50-$100) PLUS the mortgage ($1000-$4000 month) you can easily see that homeowners are carrying the biggest burden! It is not fair and people are living day to day just to pay for housing! Something needs to be done! Lower the tax rate not the values! Tell the local municipalities to stremline ALL costs! They need a tighter budget!!!

They need to cut their spending. We are in a recession and by raising taxes they are even taking more money out of peoples pockets. Leaving people with less money to spend, and that hurts all the local stores with the people having less money to spend the businesses need less employees working at their stores which leads to layoffs and even more people unemployed....and possibly even more stores closing.

I just googled property taxes in New Jersey. I had numerous hits that say New Jersey is the highest in the nation..........I guess to many people that work for the state get way over paid, and the state overspends like crazy........http://www.nj.com /morristown/edwardfrance/index .ssf/2008/02/why_are_property_ taxes_so_high.html
