If we don't step up and join Glasco and Miltonvale K-12 schools, the state is going to come in and tell us that our schools are too small to keep open, close us down, and both of our communities are going to start paying taxes to Concordia for them to build a new High School.
I would much rather pay taxes for a new school for our children at the 81-24 junction where they have to drive 9-12 miles rather than a school at Concordia where I will have to send my kids 25 miles.
I know there is a lot of hard feelings that date back 20 some years ago between the schools from sports rivalries. But we have to put the parent's past behind us and remember that the future we are looking at is our children's and not our.

I really hate the hear this. I really hope your community is able to keep your kids going where you want them to. Hell with the 20 year old rivalries, do you think the grade schoolers remember that? I agree with you, hope you can put that past behind everyone and do what it good for the kids.

The thing is your little small towns can't keep up with the numbers and small towns in rural kansas have been slowly dieing theres nothing left to keep people there housing is extremely cheap and so you find the people who have been there all their lives or you find low income families moving in but for how long....until they find a better job in a bigger area. glasco isn't the only town going this way, Concordia is aswell going the way of the wagon. Its number of students have been down too. your new choices in a few years are send your kids to beloit or Con the reason for that is those schools have more pull more money and sorry, more and better education. Its happend in repulic county, how nice was hillcrest..damn nice building and it got shut down what happens when you open this new school for two towns and in ten years you can't aford to keep it open due to low number.....sad truth but it is what it is

If Southern Cloud puts their school at 24 & 81 it would kill Glasco and Miltonvale. They would become another dying town like Delphos. Pluss the new school would be broke into or vandalized every summer. It takes the county sherrif 30 min. to 1 hour to respond. This happens to outher rural county schools in Mo. and Kansas. They lose shop tools and computers all the time. Then we need to think about how many student may die in auto accidents each year. Or how many parents will move or send their children to outher schools like Clay Center. I beleave it would cost too much. The Methodist Church in Glasco has a building we should look at for a high school befor we build outside of Glasco. Then we can look at Miltonvale for a smaller building.

Glasco has sold a record # of homes in 2008 we have sold homes that have been empty for two to twenty + years. We just got 3 new students after Christmas break. We need to make the kids that live in our district go to our school or pay. We have at least 10 kids going out side our district why?

Glasco got four new kids from Concordia today. They said the Concordia School kids was getting bad grades. So the principal said no more home work for any kids so the Schools grades would go up. Whats that teach them?

Daily Horoscope for December 10

Cancer

Someone dear to your heart isn't exactly a barrel of laughs today, are they? Is it your imagination or are they taking a perverse delight in spreading doom and gloom in all directions? If they've got good reason to be miserable then they deserve your sympathy, but even so it may not last for long. Try to keep active and cheerful, otherwise you'll also develop a tendency to brood.
