A real tragedy all around, I think the sentence was overly harsh, rehabilation and healinf should be the key

To A Friend in Columbus Oh, I cannot believe that you think her sentence is overly harsh!!! Do you not realize that she murdered a small boys mother and stole an innocent mans wife? The sentence she received was in my opinion not harsh enough, she should sit in jail for the remainder of her days. She knew she had a drug and drinking problem and she took no steps to help herself instead she drove drunk 5 TIMES the legal limit and murdered an innocent mother!! The key as you say is not a slap on the wrist and a few years in prison ... the family she ripped apart will suffer far longer than a mere 7 years. My heart aches for Heathers family and for poor Fletcher now motherless. And lets not forget that she has a son as well who will now be motherless for 7 years ... That may be the best thing for Zach though.

To A Friend in Columbus, OH.....I too, feel the punishment was extremely harsh. I believe she deserved to be punished, but 7 years was excessive. If you watch the news on a daily basis,you know that murderers get less time. Alissa is not a murderer. It was an ACCIDENT. Not an intentional act. I was very saddened by Heather's death, and my heart went out to her family. Unfortunately, alcholics don't think they have a problem until something like this happens. I am sure Alissa knows she has destroyed 2 families with her thoughtlessness. And I know she sincerely regrets getting behind the wheel that day. She is paying her dues now, so maybe A Concerned Mother can focus her anger and hatred for Alissa in another direction.

I know for a fact that Alissa is not sorry for what she did. She has publicly made the statements that Heather should have had her seat belt on and then maybe she wouldn't be dead. So you can live in your fairy tale world where you believe that Alissa has a heart and has any compassion for the family she destroyed as for me I know the truth. She only feels bad because she got caught not for the damage she has done. She had many chances to get help and didn't atleast now she will be off the roads for a few years...should be life.
