I think we would all like some insight into what the big overall plan is. All you keep saying is wait until the January 31st meeting. The last elected official who said that was the new East Rochester Mayor and his plan ended up being nothing. I hope your plan is more involved and actually has some new realistic ideas to it.

So tell us Councilman Dan what are these projects?
And please don't say come to the January meeting.
Personally as a senior citizen I am not coming to a meeting at night in late January. I heard that they want to put up those old Main St. improvement sketches on the hallway at the town hall. What a waste of space! Those sketches did not improve anything ten years ago. Today the owners probably have less money than back then.
I do not blame you for not wanting to go out in January for meetings at night. But would it be nice if there was a community website where we could do what we are doing know and discuss ideas and let folks know what is going in government and the town in general. That is one project I intend working on in the second quarter of this year.

The sketches will be valuable to us. Ten years ago the reason for the sketches was never followed through. And you are likely correct that there was not any money to make things happen.

However there are grants available and several people willing to work on the downtown revitalization. The January 31st meeting is for discussing that topic as well as to hear from the Alliance for Business Growth on grants for business development in the downtown area. Here is there website:

A third project is a survey for businesses soon to be coming out. This is to gauge where the existing businesses are at. I want to do a follow on survey of citizens to see what they are looking for in existing businesses and what new business they would like to see. This kind of information would be a tool for existing businesses to get feedback to make changes or improvement and give potential businesses data to make it easier to come here to do business.

More to come Ö

You hit the nail on the head. What is the overall plan? I think we are lacking the global picture of things. I think it still needs to be defined in some detail.

My intent is to create the foundation and means of communications we need in order to discuss and debate what the vision is going to be. Not I or any one person has the answer on that vision. It should not be one personís vision. It needs to be a community vision based on citizenís ideas and expertise. A vision we can all work towards. We need to look 5-10 years down the road of where we want to be and put the plans in place to work toward that goal.

Once again the Sentinel has proven that it is the worst publication out their. Compare the amount of coverage between the Livingston County News and the Sentinel. The stories in the Sentinel are one side and donít tell the whole story. I would like to state that the town board made a bad decision in switching the official paper back to the Sentinel. I hope the town board keeps its web site up-to-date or finds other ways to let people know whatís going on in the town because Iím done wasting my money on the Sentinel and I know Iím not the only one.

Both papers have had their issues in regard to accuracy and coverage. But we need to communicate with as many as possible and the Sentinel does have a much higher readership in Lima.
However, you are absolutely correct about the website. One of my goals this year is to make improvements to the site so you can find good timely information on what is happing in government and the community.

We are residents of Livingston Co. We appreciate news about Livingston Co not Monroe. There may be issues with both papers but the Sentinel deals in lies. They mislead the public. I will not buy the Sentinel.

I will not spend a nickle on the Sentinel..the bias has been shown to us in great Councilman Dan's blogs...the only answers he has are a web site..the Sentinel..and pretty policital speech...over and over again

I couldn't agree with you more forprogress.
Does "political puppets" come to mind?
Now the bank is gone and what future would a new bank have here? It is silly to think that by the town saving money and using a bank that was more than willing to work with us is the only reason the bank left. Get real. They saw no future in spending the money it would take for them to upgrade and be able to stay here.So-- what other bank would spend money to build a bank here?
I also am watching another business in town go down the drain. The economy is in the dump and so is this town. Pretty words aren't going to fix things. Just how stupid does this group think we are? The Sentinel has always been politically bias and must be very happy with our present situation.

A Little Person - the bank did not have the land to make improvements, such as a drive up window. They wanted to unite the two banks in a new building in Avon but the plans fell through. The story I heard was there was not enough commercial business in Lima.

How much are they asking for the old Crossroads restaurant? That place always seemed so dark inside and the view was so good for digestion.

I heard the same story about not being enough commercial business. But someone also said that they left because one of the board members convinced the others to change banks. Very silly because I am sure they needed more revenue than just the money from one source. Also the other members agreed to change and to say that only one board member wanted to change says that the other members have no mind of their own.It is my understanding that it was just cost effective. I don't know what is going on with Crossroads. Maybe someone will buy the whole corner. That would be nice but I can't imagine who.

Dan, thank you for taking the time to talk to us here. I hope you don't get too frustrated by these people who seem to be asking you to tell them what's going to happen at a future meeting. That's like asking how the board is going to vote at a future meeting before there is any discussion of the issues.
Is the public invited to this meeting on the 31st? I think there are a lot of people who are actually willing to spend their energy moving forward rather than continuing to rehash the past.
