Citizens of Kauai, leave the ferry alone. Be glad you may have it as another means of transportation, carrying goods, cars, and tourists. So what if a couple of fish get killed. How about all the tourist boats and dinner cruise ships that operate. I have said before we took the same kind of ferry across Lake Ontario from Kingston Ontario to the US with our car. Don't cut off your nose to spite your face.

Even though Hawaii is not, the average tourist still thinks of Hawaii as grass huts and hula girls. Kauai, get over it, this is 2009.And we have been to Kauai and love it. We were on Kauai 7 months agter the hurricane and Kauai was still beautiful.

Just one more comment, you people in Hawaii don't realize how lucky you are to have the trade winds blow constantly. My wife and I were amazed how clean your air is. You have some of the cleanest air in the world, just like your water. Be thankful for what you have. LEAVE THE FERRY ALONE OR SEND IT HERE TO SENECA LAKE IN NY.

Some people are still living in the past. Get over it! The age of technology has arrived and Kauai is no exception. The Superferry is great!! It is a wonderful way of transportation. It will be good for the economy of your ancient island. IMUA KAUAI!

Thank God some common sense has prevailed in denying the appeal. I equate these groups to a pitbull. Once they get their teeth into something, they just won't let go, even if they know they are wrong. I have utilized the Super Ferry and I believe it's a wonderful alternative to flying.

Environmental impact statements are only needed when the environment and the resident people are put above the military and moneyed interests, sadly this is not the case.

Forget it. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. In this case, the "New Hawaiians of Kauai" want to keep "their island" for themselves. I remember the Kauai of old - nice friendly people. I wonder where these guys came from because there certainly is no Aloha from them.

Please, "Leave the ferry alone," am imagining a little kid pouting while saying that.

You offering to take it in Seneca, NY...or Washington state or Alaska state or somewhere else...you may get your wish...You Can Have It.

Sakijo, this is as far from the truth as it gets.Kauai people are nice and friendly, they are just fed up with corruption in GOV.The kauai people are trying to protect kauai so there will be a place where people can go and still see green mountains and blue water,A place where you can still catch fish at the beach and enjoy some peace without a million other people breathing down your neck,Mahalo,Aloha

The eco taliban will try all their tricks to kill any island improvement. They want control of how these islands are run, In fact all of the world is being hassled by them. This has cost taxpayers here millions. This is their weapon lawsuits and finical hardship. Serria Club is just not after S/F but telescopes, commercial business and other projects that bring us forward. They are a bad news group with leadership from Germany pushing for a one world goverment they want control and that is less population more animals that they will be in charge of. They get there money from a people with large hearts who care about the enviroment and animals but they don't realize their going to be the target for elimination.

to the people of Kauai please let the ferry alone. They are not the only ones who break the laws of Hawaii, our politicians break it constantly. And to the tree huggers get out of Hawaii and go to Cuba or Venezula where thet are destroying the rain forest and everthing else they touch. I know no balls to go after them.

Kauai needs the Superferry, the cargo and the tourists. Short-sighted protesters may have tanked that island's economy.

When the next hurricane hits, the fastest way to get tons of supplies and emergency equipment to the Kauai will be the Super Ferry. Hooser, Yukimura, Hoeppner and all the rest protesting the ferry will probably shove their way to the front of the line on the dock. They should sign pledges that they will live off grass soup until the next regularly scheduled Young Brothers shipment arrives.
