Kauai needs the Ferry. With rising fuel costs, the closure of local airline Aloha and other economic factors, we NEED the Super Ferry.
It angers me that the people who are opposed to the Super Ferry on Kauai make up a small portion of the island and should simply be put to a vote on the next ballot. Activists make it impossible for a person to voice their opinion without being condemed brutally! ISN'T that why ballots are cast behind curtains?
Stop blaming the local people for using their voice while you use your voice.

The blame falls SOLELY on the owners of the Super Ferry who FAILED to do the basics as all of us are required to do.

My family and friends were looking forward to the superferry. We really need it for so many reasons, being able to shop at stores in Honolulu or other Islands so we don't all look like Walmart, KMart or look like the sales rack at Macy's. We need to be able to have this choice, a wonderful way to travel to the other island. I have a handicap husband and I need to bring wheel chair and other items. It would be so much better to have my car with those items. He could travel much more comfortable and what a beautiful ride it woul be. We understand the eis concerns but as has been brought out before many other ships, cargo ships, private yachts, private jets come here.
whales are not i danger
superferry has a handle on that. We deserve a little enjoyment here Superferry is coming because we want it.Many oppose the Superferry for whatever reasons.we have good reasons.Bring it on.

As a resident of Kaua'i, I believe that the Superferry will do good for Kaua'i. I strongly feel that way. I agree that it's not a PERFECT system, nothing is, and that there WILL be some bumps along the way, but I believe the overall will have a positive impact. I believe that Hawaii as a state (and not each its separate island) will become stronger as one. To those saying Kaua'i was never a conquered island so we shouldn't give in to the superferry, you're right. Kaua'i never was conquered, but the King of Kaua'i saw what Hawaii could become if we all join as one, which is why the king gave Kaua'i to Kamehameha. I STRONGLY feel that the the "minority" of local residents who are totally against it are rallying behind an empty passion for the one fact that many of their protests against the superferry are already in motion with Matson and Young Brothers and other barges (remember, I said BARGES, not a mere FERRY). Tell me that Matson/Young Brothers has never hurt a whale in all the years of service, get real. Tell me that Matson/Young Brothers have never transported invasive species, get real. The meely fly, an invasive species that are harming crops started on Maui, made it's way to the Big Island, and now can be found on Kaua'i. I know, the superferry is transporting it, oh wait!, it hasn't even serviced the Big Island! See, an empty protest.

I can't wait for the super ferry to come here to Kona! I grew up in Alaska on Kodiak Island. As a child we traveled back and forth to the mainland on the ferry for all our High School Sports. I don't think Hawaii understands how much better it will be for everyone in this state having the super ferry. All I can say is Kona is excited! This gal is anyway.

We made it this far with no ferry, and that's how it will stay.

How about you made it this far off Oahu tax dollars and that's how you want it to stay? Time to pay your own bills and do without if you aint got it. Then maybe you stay all to yourselves.

The Superferry is Lingles Albatros, and a symbol of the Haliburton like corruption that infested every aspect of the Bush Administration.

We don't want it on the Big Island either!

Sorry Superferry cheerleaders, you don't speak for the resident of the Big Island.

Not that it matters. The Superferry is a money losing operation, and until we see the balance sheets, nothing will make me believe otherwise.

Madame Pele will sink that operation in any number of mysterious ways. Probably by sucking the Aloha out of the company and causeing them to devour themselves.

So the Superferry is out of Drydock already?

I would like to know the credentials of the so-called self-acclaimed environmentalists. where they went to graduate school, degrees obtained, etc. I have a feeling these are the usual "party-popper" type people and those from elsewhere that came here to get away from the real world and want to keep Kauai as their "fantasy island".

Now that we have the rulings and they are in effect, we can ensure EVERYONE has to comply with them, including ALL EXISTING OCEANGOING COMPANIES and PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION COMPANIES. Get to writing to your reps folks, its time for enforcement.

Kauai is being overun by zealous tree-hugging Cali transplants under the hypnosis of the
Sierra Club. Mindless zealots.

Sad the true local community there could care less about their beautiful island.
