Some people don't need to cheat the system because they "get" so much help with welfare it's ridiculous. They get more doctor visits and surgery, dental, vision all free. Most people with jobs don't have that. They can go buy the best of everything in the store with their welfare food stamps most people with jobs don't have that. They have free phones, discounted heat and power, free rent, food bank, and all the other programs they can get, which working people don't have either. They are too busy working to buy their groceries on a budget and save up to pay for costly doctor bills that are not completely covered on insurance, and to pay the taxes so others can get all their welfare.

I know I am going to get blasted on here but I don't care. I definitely have a stereotypical attitude about life long welfare recipients, the kind that for example, get welfare because they have a child, which I still don't understand how that makes a person unable to work or support themselves for 18 years.

Hey if that's how you want to live and our government makes it possible GO FOR IT.

This is a little more the way is should be though I think.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charity_Organiza...

To all the people who get disability on the up and up I have no problem but seriously today EVERYTHING is a disability. You are fat? It's a disability. Whatever. I think maybe the parameters of that so called system need overhauled like everything else.

The few people I know on welfare, that are on it legit, don't go without much so you get no sympathy from me either legal or cheating.

Agree with you 100% I have a neighbor that is on disability, Why he is on disability I have no idea he's in his late 30s maybe 40, but I see him out running around all the time doing yard work washing his car everything, he also has a very nice house? Guess his back don't hurt that bad, I go to work everyday it's just a shame. Thinking about turning his ass in.

Won't do you any good. Typically they will receive thousands of these everyday and a majority will never be looked at further than a phone call. With as large as a gov't that we have you would think we could apply the man hours to fraud to rid it but it will never happen.

They surely could do something about the multi-millionaire CEOs who wrecked our economy with impunity. While I do agree with you about those milking the welfare system to the point of absurdity...I would also like to see the corporate welfare whores get prosecuted also. Today we see that the US government is suing S & P for their rating of certain investment vehicles that caused the mortgage fiasco. Good luck with that…and even a monetary compensation is awarded in the government’s favor, who really pays? Who are the ones who approved the ratings? Where is their accountability? They are probably still getting multi-million dollar bonuses every year, astronomical severance packages, and absurd pension plans.

While you go after the miserable slug skimming welfare, I’d like to see someone with authority go after the guys who live above the law. Trouble is…no one with integrity has the responsibility or authority to do it. Not even the POTUS…who got there on their dime like every other politician in office. All bought, signed, sealed and delivered to their real bosses on the day they took office with corporate money. And as long as provide the welfare slugs and whores with all the freebies, they keep them happy and quiet…on our dime. Welcome to Deadwood…hooplehead.

We should just let it go even if it is only one person we know getting over on the system? So the person committing fraud is fine but the whistle blower who names them you chastise? Humm. You're the "new" kind of person who also feels entitled to drive through a red light because you didn't get to go when it's green. Your attitude sickens me.

Whistle blower? HAHAHAHAHAHHA! It's Topix for crying out loud! What this person did was name 1 name on a site that surely gets watched by the departments in charged to investigate fraud? Really? You figured me completely out, who I am and how I live my life because I made a simple comment about someone throwing a single name out their that none of us have any knowledge about or if it is even true. Guess I should probably stop using turn signals and stop signs to sicken you even more.

For everyone:

FACTS:

1-adult receives a maximum "welfare" (cash assistance) of $205.00 per month, which is not enough to live on, unless one lives in India or Indonesia.

1-adult receives maximum SSI "welfare" payment of $650/month, if one was born with a disability and never worked. This is not enough to live in, unless one praises cows or Buddhas, as well. This $650 CANNOT be combined with the prior-mentioned $200; only one of the other is awarded to an adult.

1-adult in the first scenario receives $200 per month in food stamps, which is not enough to live on, and eat in a healthy way, so $100/month has to be taken from the $205/month, just to eat, which leaves $105/month to pay for transportation, laundry detergent, toilet paper, toothpaste, deodorant, and paper towels. This leaves roughly $40/month to pay 100% of utilities, phone and cable and internet bill.

1-adult in the SSI scenario gets only $75/month in Food Stamps, and has to reduce his SSI income by $200 to feed himself properly, and has then only $450/month to pay for utilities, transportation, etc. And, but then -- all the money is gone.

-----So, for those of you thinking that "welfare" recipients live high on the hog, you're out of your minds, and you have no clue how little the "system" provides for the people. You're out of touch with reality.

-----Free cell phone? with 45-free minutes s month, big deal! Who f-in cares for an old phone with 11-minutes each week to talk on.

-----Free housing? For the real welfare recipient,$50 has to be paid from the $205, toward rent, and that leaves only $50/month to pay for utilities and deodorant, and shampoo etc. This is all not possible, so the person is -- only being kept alive, and not being trained to leave the system.

>>>>>>> >>>>>>> >>>>>>> The only people cheating the welfare system of the bureaucrats, the Social Workers, who are stupid, and do nothing but push papers, for $60,000/year, and all the politicians who creates the asshol-e programs that look like "help" programs, but really only create jobs for bureaucrats.

-----The indigent in Westmoreland County live like they are in Communist Russia, standing in-line for old food with shelf expiration dates on the products distributed; they stand in line to fill out stupid forms, there is no government transportation to go to MDs who will actually -- cure -- them as opposed to give them opiates and muscle relaxers to simply drug them into stupors.

Please people, stop criticizing people, who are being kept alive like dogs in pens. Their pens are their public housing units, their feed is the food stamps. And as for their medical care -- if they can even get a MD, who is good -- to take them on as a patient, they don't get good medical care, once the MD sees Medicaid as the primary insurance. That whole belief is ruse.

To conclude:

$200/adult/month = Food Stamps
$205/adult/month = Welfare aka Cash Assistance

maybe

$650/month/adult = SSI for being disabled and having never worked

This is all the welfare there is FOLKS, so no one is living the high life with these figures.

Several, hell many MDs in Westmoreland County -- throw, yes throw -- opiates at the Medicaid patient, because opiates are cheap and keep the Medicaid patient all drugged up and not aware that their health has failed, and that they could be better.

Opiates are cheap. So MDs throw them at Medicaid patients.

Medicaid patients really don't get the care they need. So don't begrudge them their lack of co-pay; they really shouldn't pay for the lack of care they get!!!

Many Medicaid patients sell their opiates, it's true, but they have to get them from somewhere, and the circle is completed by the many Westmoreland County MDs, who throw opiates at their Medicaid patients.

Your "free" vision = 1 pair of glasses = every 5-years. God forbid that the prescription changes in that large chunk of time. Too bad if it does, especially in the elderly, because Medicaid does NOT CARE.

Your "free" dental = fillings and root canals that aren't needed, because the TOO FEW dentists, who take Medicaid run a racquet, sort of a rope 'em in and drill 'em down and pull 'em out. Ever wonder why the indigent have so many root canals and fillings? Well, aside from all the junk food -- the dentists RIDING the system, too, perform procedures that people don't need.

Your free rent = does not exist. Even people earning the $205/month cash assistance have to pay $50 for rent. This is the minimum. This is not an option.

Your free utilities = yes, utility discounts, but most people can't pay their utilities, and get subsidies. And let's face it, the energy companies have made more profits than most other businesses, so they can supplement poor people's usage, and not even lose 1% of their profits!
