I remember back in the sixties, when I was Cub Scouts, we used to have large troop meetings in a hall in downtown Latrobe. There was a wooden stage, three or four feet high and the room was large, maybe 30' x 40' or so. It was in a building on the west (left) side of the 300 block on Main Street. Looking at what's left on Main Street, I'm pretty sure it must have been in the St. Clair building at 348 Main.
Does anyone else remember that? What's in the St. Clair building these days?
We all know 333 Main, so 348 Main was across the street near the church? Was that the Community Club building?

That building had a gym-type large room on the first floor.

My second Girl Scout troop met at the building to the west of Troutmans (Weldon street side), and wasn't that the LOOM Loyal Order of Moose.

There was a large hall upstairs with hardwood floors where we met. My other troop met at the church on Weldon.

The building is still there. I think it was recently used for retail space, but I have no idea about now. The main room in the back was completely open, and they set up those flat-folding wooden chairs. There was a stage the full width of the room.

Yes, I think the Community Club was there in the 70s, and can remember a pool table in the front room.

The Community Club was what we did in 8th and 9th grades, I think on Friday night, and yes, there was a front room with a pool table where a lot of the boys stayed ;-(

But, what was interesting, was the entrance room with the chairs. That's where the boys came once in a while, and where the boys and girls came from the back (where there was dancing and muic), to sit, too. That area was the ini-between area between the boys who weren't going to dance, and the girls and da few boys who would dance.

----I like in-between areas! Always have, always will.
