I was just wondering if anyone knows any info on the Texas county nursing program.. On hwy 63. I don't want anyone criticizing anyone I just want to know how the school is and how long it is and how many days a week and if it's a good school to attend. Thank you!

The LPN program, like most is around 11 months, then the LPN to RN bridge is 15 months. This is pretty standard for these types of programs. I did not go to LPN school there but the instructors I had for the RN bridge were the best I could ask for. I have not heard much bad about the LPN program either, although you may hear negative statements because thats how it goes. Any nursing program is going to be difficult. In my opinion it is more difficult than your standard college coarses because of things like if you fail certain tests you are out. There are also certain standards they must meet. It is not rare for only 60% of the starting total to actually complete the LPN program, and that is with most LPN programs, but in my opinion the harder it is the better. If you are not serious about becomming a nurse, dont do it, but if you are then go for it. The one big negative that I have heard about the school is the cost, which seems to be higher than comparable programs. I really hope that this post doesn't turn into something of a negative nature because the staff I am familiar with are good people and they were good instructors. I will tell you that if you are interested in going through it, it may be too late for the next class and you may be looking at Aug. 2013 before you can start, but if you want to do the bridge program as well then you can take some coarses at Drury that apply for that while you wait for next enrollment period. Most people that have gone to nursing school would agree that it was very difficult, you go 4 days a week with a lot of homework and studying at home. Your life will revolve around school for a year, with little family time, and no time for yourself. But if you want it bad enough you will do it. Good Luck in whatever you decide.

Okay So the LPN program is 4 days a week and RN is 2. It is very hard because you try to fit everything into onne day and clinicals the second day. If you are interested I urge you to go over there and speak with Clarice. Do not trust this site for all the details. She can explain cost which is pricey. She can also explain the provram classes and prerequisites. It is a very good school though. I went through them to do both LPN and RN. So far out of the 18 people that graduated this year 9 has passed and the others are still waiting to test. They care and as long as you work hard they will try everything in their hands power for you to succeed
