If that happened here we would have used the taser on it about 4 times.

It is sad that they had to put the dog down but in the end the public safety must come first. If any is angry they should be angry at the moron that left the dog run loose.

Pug is good eating, that dog could have fed a whole family for a week or two, I hope they donated the meat to a food bank.

You are 100% right. Unfortunately in our society it is never the moron or the criminal who people blame. It is always the police who are at fault. There's always somebody out there willing to take a story like this and somehow tie it to some local disdain for the police. Like saying if that happened here we would have tased it 4 times. Is that a bad thing to tase it 4 times if it saves the dog and nobody crashes?

How does a little Pug dog run around in
70 mph traffic at the height of rush
hour for the amount of time for "all" of
these people to arrive and not get hit?

Yes, it's sad that they shot the dog but it would have been more sad if people died while trying to avoid hitting the dog. Give the police a break-they are there to save human lives.

If snarling rush hour traffic is a capital crime, there's a road repair crew that should share the fate of that dog.

The officers definitely did the right thing. Human life is more valuable than that of an animals.

Yeah, just pick a PennDot construction location.

They shouldn't have killed the dog though.

Yeah that traffic in Courdelane Idaho is a real barn burner. There were probably six or seven cars an hour running that stretch! Feel bad for the pug, but public saftey has to be first.

You obviously don't know much about Pugs. Their hair may be short, but there is a TON of it. They shed ALL the time. It would be very easy for the hair to become matted.

I whole-heartedly agree that the life of a person comes before the life of an animal. Well, most people at least. What does not make any sense is that the article stresses public safety and then goes on to say that "law enforcement officers stopped traffic in both directions on the highway, and after failing again to catch the pug, they shot it." How is the safety of the public in danger if all the traffic is at a standstill? If that, in fact, was the case when they shot the dog, I suggest that they need to work on their problem-solving skills.

You're absolutely right! Contact internal affairs, I'm sure there's some sort of conspiracy between the cops and the dog.
