I have a friend that is an alcoholic and he told me he didn't feel comfortable going to church unless he was completely dressed up and wasn't drinking that day. what is your thought on this?

So if he drinks and stays drunk for six weeks and don't drink at all the seventh week he will still be drunk the seventh week ? What kind of idiotic philosophy is that ? Damn your dumb !

I wasn't judging, as I drink on occasion myself, he is an alcoholic looking to go to church and quit drinking but he is ashamed if he isn't dressed up completely or drinks that day he will be judged. I'm not sure what to tell him- he is interested in going to church but afraid of People judging him there. I don't go to church neither. Anyone know any good churches around here open to helping him? I didn't know what to tell him because I don't know the area very well. I'm not being pushy on it at all - it is completely his decision whether he goes or not he said he has been drInking since young and wants to get sober but I don't really know how to help him, but just listen that's all I can do and take him to Danville to get alcohol on occasion when going to the grocery store. He tells me how he has been drinking all these years and wants to stop but doesn't know how to and as for me? I just sit there with a loss for words, again I'm not a pushy person so I think his recovery is his decision, but I really don't know how to help him. Good churches in the area for this?

You don't have to wear a suit and tie to go to church . And you won't go to hell for only just drinking. Tell him to go to a church where people know him if they are worth there salt they will help him . They likely already know him . Tell him to go to the pastor and tell him he wants help with his problem . there is no shame to that at all.

He shouldn't dread going to church. We people can not change our ways on our own. So many ties people think you have to clean your life up and go to church which is totally backwards from the way it really is. You need to be in God's word and will...which church is important. Then God and His people can help with situations that might arise.

We have no power in ourselves we only have power through God. And I am not saying i am sin free by any means. I am saying God helps me get through every day one day, one moment at a time.

The good news is I found a church right here in Casey County that believes the same way!God bless and if you want to know more just ask!

He should just go to a good church.. Real people of God wouldn't condemn him for his problem, only pray for him and help him through it.

Exactly, my opinion, no church should turn anyone away, we are all gods children, no matter who we are, or what we look like, or what we have done in life.

As a person who knows, you most certainly can drink six days out of the week and be totally sober on the 7th. If you cant, you're an amateur.

Not completely true. It would depend on how much you drink.
