Does anyone know who to call to report a case of animal neglect here in Liberty,KY? A neighbor already called the City and was told to call *Animal Control* who have done nothing. Several of us residents are appalled at the treatment of a dog that is tied out in an open field 24/7 with no adequate shelter. This poor creature is left out in the wind, rain, and chilly weather only having the cold hard ground to lay on. It's pitiful and sick that this can go on. Clearly the owner doesn't care

Go turn the dog loose it is sad but it probably stands a better chance on its own .

the dog has been loose but it stays in their yard & howls- you approach the dog to pet it and it cowers like its been hit before. Guess it doesn't know any better to leave- I guess it doesn't know of anything better period!

yeah its so sad seeing it laying in the cold field now 11:00pm- its located on Allen Street- past Whipp Avenue- got its zip line tied to a utility pole in the field behind the fancy 2 story house-

yup, owners are cozy- dog is left to lay on the cold hard ground

A pocket knife or wire cutters would do the dog a lot of good. Cut the rope/wire.

Ricky- meaning the animal control officer? yeah but i thought that office was just in charge of collecting the loose dogs that are roaming the streets- can they really do anything about a neglect case?

and cutting the rope wouldn't help because the dog doesn't know to run away

He has the right to write citations and give court dates dogs is not all they deal with now that is why they are called animal control officer. He can take the dog and hold it until the owner goes to court.

YES the dog is tied up

it only has the ground to lay on at night- no shelter - its just out in the open air, on the ground

As for this Animal Control Officer, is this an appointed position or is he elected in or whatever- how long is it for? can anyone else apply...Ever?? Sorry folks, I dont think this guy does or even cares about his job - I think we need new blood in there

Saw the dog today. No shelter except possibly an aluminum canoe leaned up on a fence. Pretty dog. Boxer mix.

I think they must peruse Topix. I saw a doghouse on the carport about an hour ago. I hope he gets in it tonight.
