I am about sick of all the threats coming from UCSD. Your kid misses 5 days they threaten court. You are late on school fees they threaten court. You owe $25 in lunch fees THEY THREATEN COURT. I am soo sick of this crap. I should send them a letter saying that I'm taking them to court for not teaching our kids. They would come out smarter if they were dropped off in the woods as babies and raised with the wolves. Not one child that gets through that school system can make a complete sentence. They charge a fortune in school fees and then the teachers make you spend $100 in school supplies. They waste so much. UCSD how about finding someone to write these letters in a less threatening way. It is no wonder why people don't hesitate to sue the school when something happenes. They learn it from you.

That is sad that you don't expect more from the local school system. I hate people like you. You say things like that but are the first in line for a hand out.

1. If you child has legitimate medical reasons for missing school I'm sure the school system would work with you on absences. Why 5 unexcused absences?
2. 100.00 is not much in fees. I live in OH and have paid much more for my kids.
3. Why does your child owe money for lunch? We don't allow charges in our school district. Maybe or child should take his/her lunch to school if you can't afford to pay. I'd be upset to if you had borrowed 25.oo for lunch and didn't think it was a big deal to pay it back. They shouldn't have to take staff and postage to send you a letter. Letters to delinquent parents like you are not an efficient use of their time. You say "they waste so much". How much did an employee waste of taxpayer money to time to write, print, and mail the letters to you. If you would do your job, they woudn't have to.
4. I would be embarrassed to admit you'e getting letters from the school system. You write as if it's okay to owe the school money and keep your child home from school without repercussions. Do your job as a parent and you won't get the letters.
5. I hope our child doesn't have to witness your negative rants about the school system. Your child will end up having a bad attitude about the schools as well.
6. It's a bad attitude about school that will keep a child from excelling in school, not necessarily the teaching methods. Your entitled demeanor and bad attitude will do more harm to your child than the teaching that goes on in the classroom.
7. Set a good example for your child beginning with changing your own attitude and the poor example of irresponsibility you are setting for your child or your child will end up being the same way.

1) You live in Ohio. You have nothing to do with Union Co.
2) You live in Ohio. If your child does go to UC you pay less than half of what an Indiana parent pays. Where did you come up with $100. Try more.
3) You live in Ohio. Your state is broke. Worry about that
4)They weren't 5 unexcused. Just 5 missed all excused. And yes they were sick/doc apt. It is just 5 missed days no matter the reason
5)Over 50% of UC is on reduced lunch. I am not. It is not as easy as you might think.
6)I pay my bills. Sometimes late but they get paid. If you are never late on bills you are in a class all by yourself.
7) If you are never late on your bills how about sending some money to the State of Ohio to help them out.
8) If you met some of the kids coming out of that school you would understand where I am coming from. They can't write, speak, think but somehow the finished school. It is UC.

Yes this is a piss poor school system that thinks highly of administration and crap about kids. God help you if your kid is special needs or really smart. They refuse to handle special needs kids that are not over the extream. They are not equipt to deal with them. The really smart kids are not challenged. The middle school is horrid. Why not just put barbed wire around it and call it a gulag ( i did not attend UC Schools...i know big words)

Ok. I am a Union County graduate. I have a college degree from a Big Ten University, and have a successful career. I am also raising two children of my own who I pay full lunch price, and full book fees for, on time. Paying bills on time is another part of being a responsible adult.

Now, I am a true believer that education is a priority for success. However, one thing that many people may not see is that education begins at home. Children are like sponges and soak up any knowledge, behavior and morals that they are exposed to. I am also a believer that it takes a good school system to aid in that mental and emotional development, however those who expect the school system to hold their hand and raise there children for them are sadly mistaken.

You are the parent, their mentor and light of guidance. Grow up, get your kids to school, pay your bills and set a good example. It is just as much your responsibility as it is the school system's to produce viable, productive members of society.

The fact that you have highlighted that the schools are required to continually send you letters to be a responsible parent shows you lack of parenting skills and drive for them to be successful. Don't blame the teachers....thank them.....their job is much harder than you could ever imagine.

A little stuck up arnt' we. I guess I'm not as educated as someone who attended a "BIG TEN" school but if I had attended a BIG TEN school I would be hard pressed to be trolling topix on a Friday night. I think you should try to focus on the posters point that there are better ways of communicating a message to the public than threatening court action. I find it difficult to understand why the school would send such aggressive letters out for things such as missing 5 days of school or $25. But I guess you with the BIG TEN education will have an answer. I do agree with you that education does start at home but to pay a teacher 40 large a year to only half a** their job is a joke. You say you have a successful career. Think about how some teachers must feel about the success of their careers when they put out in public a product like they produce. No one said "raise my children". I do EXPECT them to do the only job they are paid to do....TEACH. UC fails in many way at this. Now the way I see it. The only reasons someone like you with a BIG TEN education would be on this bottom of the barrel site telling others that their post was misguided is because a) YOU WORK FOR THE SCHOOL b) you are a liar and just as uneducated as the rest of us c) you need a hobby. I would be willing to bet you have a vested interest in the school/employer. As far as getting my kids to school why in the hell do you think there were so many kids missing school with illness this year? It is because of responsible people like you sending your kid to school sick and spreading sickness. Oh and by the way... I wonder why there are so many foreclosures, repossessions, people on public assistance, and reduced lunches in the US these days. I guess all of those people are not responsible adults with a BIG Ten education. Dumb A** times are hard get over yourself.

" times are hard" is an excuse. When times are hard they are hard for everyone. How you adapt is what is questionable. You can't afford school fees but my guess is there are plenty of luxuries you pay for that you could go without. Cell phone, high priced cable or satellite tv, smokes, drugs or alcohol. Have you really put your child's education first? Most "poor" people I know are poor because they are lazy and stupid and don't budget according to their income.
Smart people visit this site to make sure dumb asses are not on here bashing them. I too am a college grad.. I visit this site daily to see what the dumb people are fighting about and to defend myself if necessary.
My kids go to the same school as your kids. We do not expect their teachers to be their only source of education, we work with them everyday. We are rewarded for our efforts with two honor roll students. If you expect the system to work, you have to be a part of it.

Ahhh the age old battle of the haves and have-nots. Clasic. I have a problem taking someone who goes by the tag "DA TRUF" seriously. How does a parent of two honor role students end up using a tag that a sixteen year old would use. Are you from the Ghetto? Are you just that hip? First piece of advise: I wouldn't advertise that you have two honor roll kids going to UC. It shouldn't be to hard to figure out who you are. After all there are only 5 honor roll kids in the whole district. And being on UC's honor roll isn't that big of achievement. Just saying if you don't want people to bash you, you might want to stay anonymous. Second piece of advise: If people go to the effort to bash you on topics it really isn't worth your time to "defend" yourself. It is topix for gosh sakes. Unless what they say is true then you might find it necessary i don't know. Also, if you are being bashed by so many people that you have to regularly patrol topix how good a person can you be. If you are hated and despised by so many that you must put on your warrior hat and defend the family honor.. I mean really. Grow up. At least for your kids sake. And that's DA TRUF lol

Or fix the school. Seems like the better option. Cheaper to replace people at the school than to sell the house and relocate.

I totally agree! We moved here for the school system and have encountered nothing but redneck snobbery since we arrived! If we weren't financially tied here we would get out! Get your head out of your ass people- it's Union County In -not the Mecca of culture!

For your information, there are hundreds of students on the honor roll at Union County. And tons of people that went to Union County and succeeded well in life. So obviously the schools are doing something right. If times are so hard, you should qualify for reduced lunches. Don't have to cry like a baby online.

All this school worries about is the athletes and there families. Dont have the right last name her you wont get from the school for things like bullying or getting in trouble. The athletic kids bully and get in trouble there not blamed they either dont get in trouble or the school blames someone else or there bullied and the person doing so gets oss or iss. Then the non athletic kids get in troubled and get in a ton of trouble or if there bullied the school doesn't care.

You must start with all the principals. Especially the middle school principal. They all need to be fired or made to retire. I think she is off her rocker. For heaven sakes she is a PE teacher. In my opinion Since when does she know how to teach. I think the principal at the middle school is scared of special needs kids too. I have heard of her telling an employee that they have to much on their plate referring to that employee's disabled child. And you wonder where the problem starts.
